<blockquote><b>Quoting bia.:</b>" Yes, I would rather my daughters drink at home, I hope like f**k they don't do drugs though."</blockquote>

For real. The kids I went to high school with were hardcore. Snorting coke and shit. These were the preppy, goody two shoes, little miss perfects too.

Living in Germany has changed my perspective on teenagers and drinking which is why I don't have a problem with showing my kids the responsible way to drink. If they are anything like me, they won't be interested in drinking until they are of age anyway.

If by straight edge you mean strict, my dad was too and that still did not stop me from drinking and smoking. Not that he had to worry anyways, I dislike/d both.

I had my first drink when I was 15. Started smoking weed around the same age. And by 17 I was taking ecstasy and doing prescription drugs. Needless to say, I grew out of it. My boyfriend's dad and stepmom bought alcohol for us underage, as long as we stayed in the house. They also let us smoke weed in the house too. There were many, many times when we were all upstairs just fucked up and I am not sure if they knew about it, and ignored it. Or were just oblivious to it.

I hope that when my son is curious about drugs and alcohol that he comes to me first. Rather than going to his friends. There is tons of info out there, I just want to make sure he gets the right info.

This.

I will also set good examples for them with drinking. I will never be completely sloshed in their presence.

Yeah, I would be highly pissed if another parent purchased alcohol for my kid. Livid and seeing red, actually.

Same with me. My parents never brought anything up with me when it came to drugs and alcohol. So I went out and found out the hard way. I hung out with a bad crowd in high school. But after I graduated, we drifted apart. My senior year, I had 2 friends die drunk driving. And in the years since, I had 3 friends die from overdosing. And 1 friend commit suicide. I am glad I just left that scene and never looked back.

There won't be a lick of alcohol in my house, so no, I don't find it nessacary to buy it just for them to "try" it. It is more likely if you do that, they will think it is okay to do with friends as well...then might show off and get alcohol poison. DS It's not like he is going to want to stay home and get drunk around sober parents anyway.

They are going to do what they are going to do anyway and I would rather DS think he is going to get in big trouble than to think it might be cool with me after a little while. Maybe when he is thinking about the situation he will somehow picture my face crying or something...or his father angry at him.

Sorry bud, your obeying the law and me until you are out the house...pretty much.

IMO no, i dont condone(sp) underage drinking or drugs. I do not want it in my house. If he does it out of my home and gets caught then he will have to deal with the consiquences from that. I dont drink or do drugs and im not going to risk myself getting into trouble over my sons disscisions.
however his father has a different opinion so im sure there will be alot happening behind my back....its the only topic we cant agree on.

Actually, it's legal in the state of Maine to consume alcohol underage with parental consent.
