Woke up today to the most horrible leg cramp ever, it hurt so bad. My calf still hurts even 30 minutes after. Why does this happen. I know its common in about 50% of women, but why. And around what month did you experience this awful symptom..

I have them, pregnant or not. I have RLS.

Lack of water, lack of potassium, lack of proper stretching before bed. Correct those things and you probably won't experience another cramp.

I was on magnesium supplements at the beginning of my pregnancy.

Try pulling your toes up towards the top of your foot, instead of stretching your toes out and pointing them. Do this multiple times, it can actually stop you from cramping. Also, doing this WHILE you are having a cramp can make it stop. Getting up and walking helps also.
