Quoting Elliot Reid:" My sis almost moved to Oz but she said it's more expensive over there. Maybe because jobs pay peanuts here lol"

Yeah but they get like 30 bucks an hour for workin in a supermarket lol. although I hear it's like 15 dollars for a bottle of coke, 5 for a can of v.. So I can imagine what everything else would be like. They don't mention that part though, they talk about the higher wages but not the higher cost of living. M wants to go over there eventually. I said I wouldn't consider it until we were married lol

Quoting Blah:"...I wish lol. You are right about the higher cost of living though. It is ridiculous over here. ... [snip!] ... every week. I've heard it's cheaper to live over there. What are your rent/electricity bills like if you don't mind me asking?"

Don't mind at all :D We're on prepaid power, so we put 40 dollars a week on that and that lasts us like 8 or 9 days.. So we put on like 160 a month in power but some of that is paying the old bill (3% of what we put on is put toward the old bill rather than the power we use) and we could probably live on a little bit less. The house we're in is 420 a week, so SO and I pay 280 of that and his dad pays the rest, and it's 3 bedroom with a sunroom that can be used as another bedroom, and a sleepout type thing that's connected to the garage that his dad lives in. The yard is huge too. We probably spend about 120 a week on food for the two of us, and we buy quite a bit of junk lol. Like chips and lollies and stuff. We can survive on a 60 dollar shop for a week. And a can of v is $2.80 - $3.20 over here lol.
See SO just hears about the higher wages and wants to pack us up and move over there, but he doesn't factor in the higher living costs and stuff. Plus I think the high wages are really only for the miners or whatever and F that. Too dangerous and I don't want to live in the freaking desert. Plus I don't know about government assistance or whatever, like if we move over there and he can't get a job, we're screwed if there isn't some sort of assistance we can get. Just seems too risky to me
