DS is 7weeks. We have been fighting cradle cap for 3 weeks now! I have coated his scalp with coconut oil, olive oil, AND baby oil (separate instances) and brushed/massaged/and combed his flakes. I then washed with Johnson and Johnson soap. Waaaa-la! Scalp full of flakes still!

Any other suggestions?

Dont use the j&j soap. Just stick to oil, brush, water

J&J was causing his cradle cap with DS. Use aveeno or J&J naturals and kick the regular J&J baby shampoo. Also try gentle naturals cradle cap shampoo. That stuff is amazing!

My doctor told me to use a tiny bit of dandruff shampoo on her hair during bath times. It seems to be helping.

His hair is very thin and straight so I'm not sure just water would get the flakes out.

LOL I obsessively pick at his head which is a sign that I need the cradle cap gone so that my mental health can recover haha

I put baby oil on at night and then in the morning give him a bath. When I wash his hair with shampoo(aveeno) I use my nails and lightly rake through his hair. He only has a few flakes now :)

With DD, I slathered her head in avocado oil. It's thicker than other oils. I put it on in the morning and let it sit all day long (her head was a bit green...and I had to put receiving blankets and burp cloths behind her head). At night, I would brush it well to loosen the flakes, then wash it out with head to toe baby wash and then brush it out again. It was gone in a few days and I haven't had to oil her up since...and I wash her hair now about once every 3 days and she hasn't had an issue.

Do not use baby oil!

Use unrefined coconut oil :-)
Let it sit on over night. it will smell funny, but that's because the bacteria is being murdered. Take a bath and use a wash cloth on baby's head and it should come right off. Cradle cap is a yeast of sorts and coconut oil has natural probiotics that will kill it off.

I Ended up lathering his head in coconut oil and using a small amount of anti-dandruff shampoo -- his head is now cradle cap free! Thanks for everyone's help!

spoke too soon. After washing his hair again last night, cradle cap has reemerged... perhaps we are washing too much? We wash every two days.
