Quoting .Colleen.:" Have you tried to buy organic beef "

*sigh* Yes. We're considering buying part of a cow for the organic beef...too bad we don't have room right now!

This is the dirty dozen, since I mentioned it.

Not after seeing the prices!! Our family sacrifices a goat or sheep about once a year but about 4/5 years back families went in on a whole cow. We will probably just have to do that again.

My sister buys an organic fed cow every couple of years and freezes it.

I really want to do that, I can never seem to get up the money when it's time, even though I know it will pay off :x

Nothing like deer. Its like a lean version of beef if that is descriptive lol you know how you can eat ground beef or steak and just taste the salt and fat sometimes, even in the non fatty tissue? Well take away all that salt and fat and you have bison. They are grass fed so you dont have to worry about a lot of fat naturally. I dont think I've ever had to trim a bison steak.

It depends on what you buy organic. The FDA likes to get cute and slap "organic!" on everything to get people to buy it. You have to learn how to read a food label to dissern what is necessary to eat organic. It is slightly more expensive, but so worth it in the end; because the money I spend on organic food, I was doubling in medical bills.

Meat, eggs, fruit (look up the dirty dozen for reference) milk, veggies, peanutbutter, butter, cheese, and tomato sauce are the most important organics I buy. Anything else I just pay close attention to the food label at what ingredients are in my food.. the fewer the better, and no sucralose, phenolys, or hydrogenated oils are important!

Food, Inc is a wonderful and very informative documentary about how broken the FDA is and how low their standards really are

I think the crap in coventional foods causes a lot of problems all around. Early puberty, ADD/ADHD/, possibly autism, among many other things.
Also if it doesn't have the USDA stamp that is is organic, it s not. Lots of companies try to fool you.

Go By The Logo

So what are we looking for? What is going to seal the deal for us that our food is actually organic? Simple. The USDA logo. In 2002, the United States Department of Agriculture established guidelines to go by in order to ensure quality and truthfulness in all products. The 100% Organic logo will let you know that the ingredients in use are all organic. This sticker is commonly found on fruits, veggies, eggs and milk products.
There Is A Difference

100% organic, as written before, means exactly what it says. Translation: No synthetic chemicals, fertilizers, genetically modified organisms or additives. However,

to add to this, I also think the genetically modified food is a huge contributor to the rise in auto-immune diseases and many other health problems that plague the US.
