Quoting kthx.:" That varies state to state. In Ohio, you can't buy Monster on FS. but you can buy Red Bull."

Yeah it's supposed to be like that here, but I did buy Java Monster once on FS. I didn't know. I bought my normal groceries at the same time and had my 2 dollars in cash for my drink. Well, it all went through.

Quoting Crystal Marie S.:" So like... if someone bought a burrito with cash, they could heat it in the microwave, but if someone bought it with fs, they couldn't?"

Yeah, it's dumb. I think about homeless people or people who are on their lunch break.

Because all people who are on FS are lazy scum and don't work and pay in either...

Have you read through this entire thread? Because I'm shocked at the number of people who feel this is a factual statement... :-/

Well, I should rephrase that.
In some of the gas stations, they're adding tax to your total and even if you're paying with EBT (which is not taxable), they're putting that amount in. They say it's because they STILL have to pay the tax...which is a lie. IDK who to call about that...

Quoting S U Z I E:" You can clearly afford treats if you sppend $700 on food for 2 people every month!"

WOW.
Yeah, that's a lot.
I spend about 1000-1200 (885 in FS) on 7 people. Sounds like a lot, but it's really not. It breaks down to 1.14 each meal/snack/drink/all of the above per person if I spend 1200 that month. Doesn't help we go through a gallon of milk a day.

Groceries are not supposed to be taxes and I thought that was a gov't thing... Does it vary state to state? If so, that's effed up!!

Oh, sometimes I even have *gasp* FS left over into the next month. Only reason I didn't this month is b/c I had Thanksgiving dinner here at my house. Probably wont' this month either b/c of Christmas and two birthdays.
I have that because I spend cash sometimes and keep the FS just in case, kwim?

Honestly, I got tired of reading it. It's the same shit.
Everyone assumes that b/c you're on it you're the lowest of the low and buying BS with it.
They complain if you're not buying healthy food (hamburger helper, ramen, etc.) and complain if you're buying good food (steak, seafood). You can't win with these people.

It's the "foreign" gas stations. Idk if they just don't know how the taxes work or not...

I buy a combination of the above...well, aside from seafood unless you count tuna..lol

But I got bitched at once because I bought one of my kids a bakery cake.
It's the ONE time a year that happens. It's their special day and even poor people want their kids to have nice parties.

I do have one kid (my nephew) who wants me to make him a homemade German chocolate cake this year though. So that's what he gets. :D
My daughter on the other hand wants a Twilight cake and IDK how to do that...so Kroger will be making it.
