Quoting veggiehugger:" So the WIC program in my area has walk-in hours and I was planning on going in soon. What should I expect? ... [snip!] ... do what I need to do to support my son. But anyways, I have no idea what to expect when I go in. What do I need to bring? "
You need proof of pregnancy, two forms of ID, birth certificate and proof of income. Expect to have your finger pricked to get your Iron checked, and you will be weighed and talked to by a nutritionist about your diet.
It wasnt that bad, when my husband and I went we were not there for too long, but you need to make an appointment, walk ins have to wait super long usually.
The best way to learn how to reach your hand down to help someone in need, is to have been in need and have reached up your hand. <3 some people will judge you, but you cant control their actions, you can only control yours. Just ignore it, and be the best person you can be! :)

Thanks everyone!
I went in today to talk to them, and set up an appointment for Monday. The lady at the front desk was very nice, and she just told me I needed a photo ID and proof of income.
In some ways I'm worried about being judged, but I know that my son deserves the best and my pride doesn't really matter. Gavin deserves to be healthy and happy and I'll do whatever I have to for him.

Don't worry about being judged!! :) They have this program for a reason! Everybody needs help sometimes and in this economy... well, the money just isn't rolling in like it was and things are getting more expensive every day. I'm not ashamed to be on Wic. At all. People might judge me *shrug* but they're also going to judge you for your septum piercing, your hair color, your body size... ANYTHING. Don't worry about it :)

Yeah, I know you're right of course. And they'll judge me for being young anyways so oh well!
