I know right. Not sure why her mom felt the need to do that. We all tried to talk her out of it. My twin bro even straight up said its looks straight up stripper

Pronunciation= Kai-us
I love that name. For us, it made the cut all the way up to the Top 5. Means happy or rejoice in Latin. I think the nickname 'Kai' would be perfect too.
The other names that had a similar feel to me (mostly because of the 'Kai' sound) were: (not everybody's style, but I love all of em)
Kynan (Kai-nen) (Welsh= chief)
Caelum (Kai-lum) (Latin= heaven; sculptor's chisel)
Kaiyan (Kai-yan) (Nigerian= long hoped for child; Afghani= universe)

I've never read the books, never watched the movies, and really know little to nothing about this particular series, but from reading this post, and a couple other forum postings here and there, I've learned that several of my top choices are really Twilight heavy. Some of our top options have been

Caius Edward
Caius Jasper
Cullen Edward
Cullen Jasper

Caius is actually our current backup choice for a boy's name, so if somehow we do end up changing our mind and shifting to this name I'll definitely need to be careful of what middle name I choose. Stupid Twilight.

One thing that worries me about this name though is that I'm a little afraid there could be a short time influx of a bunch of Caius's in the near future, especially with the Twilight connection.... all these other Latin names ending with 'us' have suddenly become surprisingly popular (Atticus, Augustus, and several others have made huge jumps in the popular lists over the past year or two-- I've read a couple of articles about this particular trend). In 2011 there were only like 40 babies named Caius, but I'd worried that for 2013 or 2014 there'll be a spike that'll drop off after a year or two so most people named Caius will be from a one or two year period. I don't like that possibility.

I doubt the name will jump that much. The books have been out for how long? If it hasn't happened by now, I don't think it will.

And it's not just a name from Twilight. It was a name before that and has history.

I doubt it since it's not even in the top 1000 names on the social security website. Cullen is cute

I agree.

I also love the variant, Gaius.
