Quoting jordan.ℓeigh✿:" So I was on the toilet and a mouse just comes strolling out from the closet. He stopped, looked me right ... [snip!] ... to get rid of em? I don't care how cruel they are, either. I won't have a nasty a*s mouse or mice around my DD's stuff. Ugh."
i feel you on that sticky traps
Quoting jordan.ℓeigh✿:" We tried old fashioned traps before, and DH would put peanut butter on them. They would eat the peanut butter and leave. Wtf right? We never caught a single mouse with them."
We had that issue as well because the mice were so small. The sticky traps worked. don't use peanut butter on the sticky traps though because the oil can screw it up. Also, put two traps side by side, sometimes they can get away. They might chew their limbs off too. They're really stupid. I f**king hate mice.
Quoting Bettinas:" I caught one in a humane trap about 4 weeks after finding it doing the same thing as yours did to you. ... [snip!] ... the mouse jumped out and ran off. We had 2 cats and a small dog who loved chasing things and I caught it. Lazy animals!"
Omg! What a little prick lol. This one was definitely testing me. He was looking at me straight in the eyes but I was on the toilet and couldn't get up! :x
That's the kind we have.
The other, traditional ones rack my nerves when they snap while I try to set them.
My cat, when she's feeling to it I guess, gets them too.
Yes! But make sure it isn't lazy. Get the most playful one you can
Quoting tinana +2:" Get a cat "
Wow I didn't even think of that haha.
I'd have to think of somewhere to put a litter box that DD can't get to, though.

We usually kept ours in either the mud room or the bathroom...either way, if you get the ones with the covers on them (I think they're about the only kind made anymore) it discourages little fingers from exploring in it.
Even just your house smelling like a cat will discourage mice. &The brave few stragglers won't be around long.

Lol wonderful. FIL and MIL have been trying to pawn one of their cats off on us, I guess we'll take him. He's really playful and likes to hunt so hopefully he'll catch them.

Sounds pretty ideal! Finding a good mouser can be hard....a lot of people won't part with em lol
But I could never kill something that looks like a tiny version of something I love so much so that was the only option I could settle on. He didn't come back in though so he must have found somewhere else to live!
I can relate to all sides of this! I work for a company that makes a natural rodent repellent, so I know all about how dangerous rats and mice can be and what a problem it can be to try and get rid of them. I've also seen all the movies starring mice with my kids and lots of really amazing YouTube videos (check out mouse agility) that make you think maybe they're not so bad.
Fresh Cab is the name of the product by the company I work for. It gets rid of mice and you don't have to set (or empty) any traps, or worry about kids getting into it because it is just a pouch of plant material soaked in essential oil (Balsam Fir, peppermint DOES NOT work reliably) so its completely safe - almost like potpourri!
