Who knew it would be so hard to have a baby in NICU.
Ever since I got out of the hospital over a week ago, I've been super depressed about everything. I cry at night, have awful night mares, no food appetite at all, Ive maybe eat once a day now, always feeling sick to my stomach, and in constant pain. And I've become to distant to everyone. I only feel good when I'm around SO. He is the only one right now that can make me smile, even when I am so upset about our son.
Plus, not being able to breast feed him. Only able to pump for him. And not haven enough to give him. My supply is down. Makes me depressed. That's all I wanted to do my whole pregnancy was breast feed him. Its all I could talk about.
I just want my babyboy home. Its been 1 week 2 days since he was rushed to children's hospital. And he already almost weighs 9 pounds.
I'm going to talk to my Doc about this tuesday.
Gosh, I hate this.
It might just be the baby blues and because of everything thats happened (read back a little) it is probably just overwhelming. The hormones don't help! Just try and think about when you do have him home how much cuddle and nursing time you will have. As soon as he is latching your supply will boost up. Just nurse nurse nurse.
The blues should subside in a couple weeks, but its good to keep your doctor up to date with what you are feeling. Its normal hun! Good luck I hope he is home soon!

Thing is, they want to let me breast feed but they won't let him eat from the boob because they dunno how much he'll take. So im totally fine with him takening from the bottle, he just won't latch to the bottle nipple.

They should be able to tell with how many wet diapers he starts having. But they probably will want you to continue doing what your doing until his jaundice is clear and he gets the ok to go home. At home you can just nurse nurse nurse, and then supplement if needed. Drink tons of water and your supply should come back. Nursing increases supply more than pumping so don't get discouraged yet! For this first week with my dd I had to feed her bm with a syringe because she just wouldn't stay awake to eat. She got it eventually! Always nurse first and then offer more afterwards, he won't eat if he's not hungry. Hope you get a chance to at least try nurse him. Good luck!
I'm sorry sweetie :( like mama moon said it sounds like baby blues from all that's happened. It is overwhelming especially when you weren't prepared or had ever imagined all this :( once he's home I think you'll start to feel better. But definitely keep your dr informed. Hopefully he'll start nipple time with you soon.
