I'm in nursing school too and the fact you would leave a person in a burning building for being drunk disturbs the hell out of me. Clearly you don't have too much hands on experience in the hospitals or you would be more compassionate than that. :?

I'm in the hole on my rent right now cuz of medical bills, and if my roommate/landlord weren't so nice I would be homeless right now. I have no family here and my bf lives with HIS family so I couldn't live with him just yet.

And it is correct that the homeless have a larger percent of mentally ill people and addicts.

The homeless man.

There's no way in hell I'd be such an a*****e that I'd grab money and let another human being burn alive.

The homeless man. Money can be replaced, he can't.

Roughly 30% have mental illnesses, around 50+% are addicts. I never said anything about mental illnesses, but no... I have no sympathy for someone that's going to piss their life away with drugs and alcohol anyway

i have no sympathy for someone who seems as cold as you do (on this thread). But, I wouldnt leave you to burn.
Your awful sentiments may or may not be explainable but as a human being, who is likely not a pedophile child molester, I'd save you before taking the cash.

Him being homeless has nothing to do with me not risking my life to try to drag him out.

Me either.
I wouldn't help a rich person that was capable of helping themselves but chose not to either. Oh well, I guess I'm just "heartless".

I would run out as fast as I could and try to send a fireman in after him, but like I said, I'm no Hulk. I can't drag out a fully grown unconscious man.

And you say you want to study psychology and be a nurse?

Do you not realize that as a nurse, you are going to be interacting with addicts/alcoholics very often, assuming you work in the hospital? I'm sure they are going to want someone compassionate.

I have a hard time believing that anyone that is capable of movement would willingly stay in a burning building and allow themselves to burn to death. The survival instinct is too strong.

This whole argument seems moot.
