DS biting while nursing... Fml. Chelsea Renae 1 child; Michigan 653 posts

My little sir is six months old, & working on cutting two bottom teeth. You can feel them, they're just under the gum line, about to pop through. And lately he's been trying to bite my nips off. Not cool. If I say "ouch" or "no biting" "that hurts mommy" ect.. he thinks it's a funny game. Ha. I've tried unlatching him & sitting him down when he bites. The whole cause & effet; bites = no boobies. But it's not working. He just bites me when we resume nursing again. I really want to continue nursing him, but his teeth aren't even all the way through his gums yet, and it hurts like hell. Just curious as to what other mommas did to get LO's to stop biting? Help me. Haha.

Don't say anything, he likes the reaction.

Take him off the breast every time he does it and say a firm no. Then try again in a little while. If he continues to do it, take it out again. He will catch on.

Yeah, I stopped saying anything. He jut laughs and smiles. Hah. He thinks it's funny. I've been trying to just sit him down when he does it. Hopefully he catches on soon! Haha. It's rough. I'm determined to keep nursing!

I'm going through the very same thing, only one small difference. My son has two bottom teeth that are already popped through and has #3 and 4 on the top trying to come in now lol. When he bites me, which isn't all the time now, I don't make too much of a big deal out of it except either firmly grab his jaw to force him to let go if tapping him firmly on the forehead while saying "no bite" at the same time. I'm afraid of scaring him, but so far it seems to be doing the trick a lot faster then forcing him to let me go lol.

Sometimes when you keep doing something and stay as firm as you can no matter how much it hurts, can help you break the habit a lot quicker then anything. Though I know it hurts, sometimes you just have to steel yourself past the pain in order to correct them without giving away any other kind of response to the biting except telling them no and such.

Hope this helps!
