Quoting cookie monster (a and p):" DH is a lineman and works with power around the mines. Yes, his job scares me."

Yeah, that is definitely scary! My DH is an engineering tech, so he troubleshoots electronics all day. He's always getting shocked. Fortunately, it's never been enough to seriously harm him.

<blockquote><b>Quoting Love!:</b>" when I worked as a preschool teacher we had special swipe cards that we had to use to even get in ... [snip!] ... think what would they do if we were being robbed or someone came in here on a killing spree where would we hide? "</blockquote>

Yeah but a parent can usually get through security easily. Especially if there is no court order that they can't see their child. We legally have to let them.

I can't imagine having a job and being scared to go to work every day. Although, I agree that being a SAHM is scary lol. I can honestly say that when my 6 month old starts to move in her crib and make tiny 'awake' noises at night, it strikes fear into my heart followed by non-religious praying that she goes back to sleep.

It only scares me because we handle money.
I do the financing and clerical work for a furniture store. People have called and given threats over a 200 dollar table with a scratch on it

I've made calls to customers who told me they were going to rip my eyes out.
People are psycho

Quoting wilde_mommy:" Did you do it Dayton? I hated going there, scared the crap out of me. I only there for a dragons game, MVH, childrens, or sinclair. Theres some super scary neighborhoods there"

Yes! I had customers off of Ghettysburg -___-

Now I still get nervous at school because I go to MJCC and take night classes. It's right by the stadium. I f**king hate Dayton.

I'm a newborn photographer at a hospital.
I only get a little scared when I get off late and I have to walk to my car in the dark. There have been incidents at the hospital before with gangs and stuff a long time ago but never in that area. There was one time there was a crazy dad and it was a little scary going in the room with him. After I got finished about 30mins later they had to call security on him.

I work with all age groups, I'm only afraid when I'm with my middle schoolers - they are terrifying!

When I worked for this computer company I was afraid of being raped by my boss (he liked to touch the employees - including me - frequently). When I was a nanny it was scary because I was afraid of the baby not waking up. I almost broke down when I had to watch her when she had a bad fever. :(
(I'm always worrying about kids.)
When I worked at the Gap I was afraid of customers yelling at me.
When I worked at Old Navy, I was afraid of being robbed (high-theft store).
Now, as I housewife, I just fear for my husband. I'm afraid he won't come home one day.

I don't fear death, though. I've accepted one day I'm going to die and I can't do anything to prevent it. :)

Not really... I work in a restaurant in a casino. Although, mixing alcohol and people losing money can make for some scary people and I do worry that someday someone will lose everything and go on a shooting rampage or something.

I've had jobs where other people were afraid for me, but literally the ONLY time I ever was afraid at work was the day I got robbed. Even after it I wasn't afraid to go back. It was a bank & he had hold of me from behind & had a knife to my neck. I seriously didn't really think he was going to kill me though. NOW that I have kids, I think I would see that very differently.

Another "scary" job I had I traveled all over across several states, always alone being a sales rep that went to industrial areas of cities - so it was into the worst neighborhoods, because no one puts a manutfacturing plant in the suburbs, right? So yah - the traffic scared me more than the neighborhoods though. I had a few close calls in traffic around Chicago that made me cry after the fact. That is a terrible city to drive through.

What could happen to my kids scares me far worse than what could happen to me. Somehow I tend to think of myself as "able to handle it"....not sure if that is good or bad that I think that way about it.

It can be scary. Mind you I'm behind bullet proof glass up front, and the back is key locked but there's always the possibility of violence. I work in the welfare office and people can get very upset when they don't get what they want.
