Anddd I was right, you're still the only one ridiculous enough to twist my words like that. The OP of the other thread just said she hadn't even seen my thread when she wrote it, so nice try.

I'm going to have to unsub this thread before I risk painting all americans with the same brush.

I don't know how any critical thinker can claim that they are NOT a citazen of the world and only a citazen of the US. To be content with having such a limited scope of knowledge, would embarrass me.

I don't know how claims can be made that Canada and the US are vastly differnt cultures when we are both prodominently Euro- Christian cultures located in the Western hemisphere with almost identical media influences.

And mostly, I don't know how any country will ever make progress if they have no desire to change things that are not working.

I don't know how a critical thinker can spell citizen wrong. I have been to several countries and am moving to India next month. That doesn't make me anything other than a visitor and I'm not going to tell them how to make their country better, because I an not a citizen.

That's a good idea, considering you're commenting on what one person said.

Although I may not like everything the US does, I love her and can't imagine living anywhere else.

The POTUS has a direct effect on the entire world. Of course they would care about the election.

Honestly my BFF is Canadian & she will even tell you there are HUGE differences in our cultures. She & I are very similar in many ways, but there are also vast differences in MANY ways between our upbringings & general culture. Some of these differences have taken years for us to realize & uncover & we talk daily. They may seem subtle but they shade the lens you view issues with significantly. I have spent lots of time in Canada & have to say I have enjoyed going there because it is different. I wouldn't bother to go there if it wasn't.

There are differences from one city to the next, I still don't think it's the same as the differences between these 2 countries. I was responding specifically to the post I quoted. I agree that Canada & the US have a lot in common, but we also have some vast differences. The differences we have between states in some cases can be chalked up to States rights & the ability for each state to set some laws themselves & such, but overall, there are also some prevailing American attitudes that you just don't see in Canada. Some of those attitudes I love, some not so much, but they are still there.

What are these vast differences? Besides the obvious gun laws, healthcare and population?
