Toddler/baby scared of facial hair? B&R + J 1 child; 2 angel babies; Germantown, Ohio 3749 posts

Ok so DS seems to cry when we are around certain people and i've noticed that all those people he cries around are male, and have facial hair of some sort whether it be just a beard, just a mustache or a full both. My dad (his grandpa ) has a beard and mustache, and DH has a goatee (sp?) and he doesn't cry around them because of it at all. but FIL he cries around and thats his own grandpa!

I felt bad when our landlord/manager of apt came and he cried when i opened the door, he's seen him before and didn't cry. he has just sort of started this.

Feedback/advice?

Well he is around his Dad a lot so that would be why he does''t cry around him. Many babies/kids do fear men because of usually deep voices and they are usually much larger then a female. That can be itimidating to a small child. Could also just be naturally shy around strangers.

Well, men whom don't have facial hair he doesn't have a problem with. Could that be because they resemble women more because they don't have facial hair? One of the guys he cried at yesterday he had been around a lot because he is my cousin's children's dad. He should be used to him?

It could come down to the facial hair, kids are funny that way.

It probably won't last forever. Our oldest cried at every man, except her Dad. She got over it around 14 months old or so.
