My DH and I own 5. 4 are for hunting and the hand gun is for protection. Thankfully we never had to use it, but it's nice to have just in case. And we will use it if we feel threatened enough to have to use it. They can try to eliminate them, but that won't stop the sick fucks from buying them from the black market.

Don't always trust the media either, law abiding citizens who carry guns DO help when able to...

I don't want them to ban guns from citizens.. They did a program where people trade in their guns for $100 gift cert. I can understand getting rid of guns that fire lots of bullets in just secs but guns all together no. Do people really think these psychos shooting people are going to give up their guns for $100. I want a way to protect my self from these people. We were contemplating buying a gun this week incase people go psycho this week thinking the world will end but its really too late..

This happens a lot more often than people realize. It just doesn't get as much publicity.

Gun ownership is a HUGE deterrent. You can't measure what doesn't happen (typically).

Here in CT there were never police or security on site at schools.

my house was robbed with me there...i had a gun...i dont want to know what could of happened if i didnt. even if guns become illegal...bad people will still get them if they want them. then what do we do to protect ourselves? i dont think the law will change and im ok with it. it was a huge tragedy and i pray for all those families..nobody should have to go through that . Timothy Mcveigh didnt use a gun and killed 168 people injured 680 but we can still buy fertilizer and racing fuel and rent box trucks people are bad and will murder even without guns America needs harsher punishment and follow through with the death penalty instead of having people on death row for 30 yrs

I don't think that is wise.

If someone with a gun came into the room with my PreK kids, I'm not sure I'd run over to grab my own gun to shoot. My mind wouldn't be on that at all, to be honest. It'd be to get the kids out of the way. I'm not sure having teachers carry guns in the classroom would help all that much. I think our instinct would still kick in and we'd simply want to cover our kids. If that makes sense.

The shooter stole the guns from his mother. If it weren't from her it would probably be from someone else. Or he could have made bombs.

I agree with others that its not so much about gun control, but diagnosing and treating mental health issues.

It's presumptuous to speak for your entire country, though. And I don't personally feel like this is something that needs to be jumped on before these babies are even laid to rest.
