What would you do if you think your almost 5 year old has anxiety. violent out busts? & it has been only getting more violent and often since age 2.
Would you get them medication for it if that is what the doctor found to be the problem?

What causes the angry outbursts? Can you isolate a trigger? What makes him anxious?

nope. my son has the same issues and we just practice different breathing techniques and time outs when it happens. lots of getting down to his level and talking things through with him, like why hes angry, what he should/shouldnt do

No, I'd avoid medication by all means possible.
That would be like throwing a blanket over the real problem.
I'd try to understand her behavior a bit more, do some research and get her into counselling.

Very true statement. For the most part, children outgrow anxiety. If the anxiety cannot be managed with relaxation techniques and self monitoring, only then should medication be considered.

If he is frequently saying disturbing things I would consider seeking a therapist.

This sounds just like my son when he was that age, he started at 2 also. PM me if you'd like,

I'd get him some therapy, and if it wasn't working, we'd medicate. I wouldn't deny my child medication for any other illness-if he was found to need medication, we would go that route.

And I will add- I have severe anxiety. I've had it since I was a kid. My parents did not medicate me until I was 14, and I had a really rough time growing up. I wish they would have medicated me sooner. I feel like I would have had a much happier childhood.

That to me sounds like a mental health type issue, I'd find a therapist and get to the root of the problem before considering medicating.

Pretty much the same here. I wish they wouldn't have subscribed to the anti-medication stigma for both my anxiety AND add.

I wouldn't medicate until every option has been tried. My LO is the same he's almost 4. I take him to see a behavioral therapist. They do play therapy, I'm hoping it helps. I would look into getting him evaluated.
