So I have a 5 yr old that talks about past lives ( he never calls it that). He also talks about "next time we are born mom...." and has all these things he is hoping for in his "next life".

If it were your child would you be fascinated? Blow it off? Chalk it up to something he has heard? (I don't know where he'd hear it & has been talking like this since about 3 1/2 yrs old). He also talks about heaven & I asked him how he can believe in "his next life" and heaven & he said heaven is where you go when you are done with having lives.

Just curious other people's take on it since I know we have some Christians, Atheists & all sorts of beliefs systems here.

Frankly I don't know what to think. I've never believed in reincarnation, but the stuff he has said at such a young age actually does make me wonder. He is also super consistent with his stories & nothing he has ever said doesn't make sense. Abnd believe me - he also tells some seriously wild tales in general just to story tell, but his past life stories are always boring & serious. LOL

He sounds like a Hindu. I would look up their/my beliefs on reincarnation and Nirvana and you might be surprised.

I know about a few of my past lives. I would take him seriously, or at least not discourage him from talking or thinking about them.

Quoting The Doctor:" I know about a few of my past lives. I would take him seriously, or at least not discourage him from talking or thinking about them."

I don't discourage it at all. I ask him questions. I really don't offer an opinion at all.

I believe it. Reincarnation was even a part of christianity at one point.
