I am in so much pain. I've been EXTREMELY short of breath to the point of not being able to say a full sentence without breathing heavy. I finally went to the doctor about a month ago; he told me my lungs were wheezing/squeaking and prescribed me an inhaler (Symbicort). That didn't work so he prescribed me an Albuterol (spelling?) inhaler every 4 hours as needed. I feel like it helps for not even an hour and the shortness of breath is still there. I began having chest tightness awhile ago then it went away. The last 4 days I've had severe chest tightness and pain. I can't tell if it's horrible heartburn or true chest pain. Is there ANYTHING I can do to ease this all?

The doctor isn't an option. We are currently being hit by a blizzard that they are considering to be life threatening for the next two days and the town is pretty well shut down and they called the National Guard out for active storm duty....sooo I need to know what to try at home. Thanks!

Only thing I can think of is to suck on some ice. It'll help open up airways and also help your tummy as well if its upset.

benedryl may help since most wheezing is attributed to some sort of allergy. caffiene also works to open airways.....2 6oz cups of coffee should help.

are you pregnant? i had the same symptoms when i was around 35ish weeks i think? and i was short of breath because my heart was at around 138 bpm. I didn't even know that my heart was racing...just that i was short of breath.
so have you taken your pulse lately?
either way if you are having that much chest pain you need to go to the ER. there has to be a way they can get you there?

Not pregnant! *knock on wood* lol but no, I'm on my period.
My pulse sits around 80-120 lately and oxygen 92-96%.

no. and if it doesn't get better or gets worse, chance a trip to the ER.

if coffee and benedryl dont help then your best bet is to call 911....they will come to you and are most likely closer to u than the ER
