I don't think they should be allowed too. I believe that everyone should and can have there own culture and belief. But it's illegal too walk into a bank wearing a ski mask and/or sunglasses (which is basically the same thing) so why should I have too and they shouldn't? That's infringing onto my rights as much as there's. as well as if you spit on the side walk in Singapore, you will get caned.... Because its illigal there and they dont care where your from, they'll punish you for that. I don't know what's with America and believing that we need too adhere too other cultures beliefs, even if its illigal for the average American to do. If you identify yourself as American. Illigal or legal, as in you live here, they people need too adhere too our laws. Because of the religious rights act being involved in this, I as a catholic(raised, not practicing) could say that god is the only authority I listen too and the police questioning me would be against my religious rights (in the bibe it states the god is the only person who can judge you). And if the courts is allowing that dress because of fear that she will get beaten by her husband for showing her skin too other men, then we need too arrest these people (either deport or jail) for demestic violence, because its illigal here and that's what would happen too any other man in the US.

This an old thread.
And america should not adhere to other 'cultures' beliefs? Uhm I am a white American Muslim, so they are not adhering to other culteral beliefs. They are respecting their own citizens.
I sincerely doubt if someone walked into a bank, wearing a ski mask, and flashes their face for proof of identity that they would be in trouble. And by your own thinking, then people who are sick and have to wear a mask to keep dust from their faces should also be charged with illegal activities.

Hmm.. that is tricky, the rules of court are no hats, ect.. so I don't think anyone should be giving special treatment, to be honest.

I recently took an interest in this type of lifestyle, have been reading an interesting book. Do you know why they wear them? To keep their bodies hidden so they do not provoke men. It is ALWAYS the woman's fault if a man has sexual desire for a woman if she isn't covered. I personally think it's the man's fault he can't control his urges.. but blaming the man would be an awful sin to allah in which you would burn in hell.

I won't judge anyone for their choices but I think it's a sad concept that some women feel they are only worth half of what a man is.

Lol wth? What book are YOU reading? If you're going to preach about a religion at least get it right. Almost everything you just stated is WRONG.

i think that they should. and if they are not allowed then they should be allowed to tape the session and have it shown in court so they feel more comfortable

Yes!
It's not like no one has seen their (hypothetical) face either. If it were me, I would show my face, my ID, be patted down like anyone else, and then cleared. If they really felt the need to see more (which has never happened to me) they could have a female see me in a seperate room.

No, I actually looked into and have a muslim friend who is from Iraq. This is true.. What made me look into it and ask the friend was the book.. it's Infidel. This is what the muslim brotherhood believes.. it is also stated that women are only half a man and women must submit to their husbands in the Q'ran.

i agree completely. and i dont think it is irrational either. we seem to forget that a persons body is thier own to do with as they see fit, and show to who they see fit!

Ok I see...you are talking about a book that is autobiographical, about a woman who has dealt with cultural pressure and extremes. NOT a book about what muslims believe in. And you cannot even bring up the muslim brotherhood as some sort of legit source. They are a political party, not scholars of Islam. If you actually want to learn about Islam, I could give you some credable sources. Most muslims these days do not even study their own religion, so saying you're friend is Iraqi means nothing. Besides, there are iraqis that are not even muslim. Please don't go around spreading false information on Islam.
Women are not considered half of a man, lol they are just considered to be a full woman.
Having sexual desires is not a sin at ALL. We actually get BLESSINGS for having sex. It is ENCOURAGED to get it on. There are complete hadiths talking about making the women have pleasure.
And it is not a sin for a woman to blame a man (for anything) that he has done. For something to send you to hell, that act had to of take you OUT of the folds of islaam, and telling on a person doesnt do that.
Like I said, if you are *truly* trying to look into Islam, I'll give you real texts, but if your goal is to read from people who have islamophobia...well then you're not going to learn any of the truths.

Yes! Like I seriously do not care if a woman walks around showing her hair. I would never ask her to cover up, because she is not muslim. People like to pull the whole 'well they make them in saudi' argument....last time I checked we are aren't in saudi, and furthermore we are not a government based on religion [guess thats up for debate to but oh well].
I get worked up over stuff like this lol.
