I'm not saying anything against/unbelieving of OP's story.. Because I was not there and know nothing of the incident. However, with my experience with my son I was forced to not push for every other contraction while we waited for my dr to get to the hospital.. And I swear not pushing when I had the urge was the MOST painful thing I have ever felt in my life! I was pushing/not pushing for about 45 minutes before being rushed to an emergency c-section just minutes after my dr finally arrived and informed me I needed a c-section ASAP.. I know every woman's body is different.. But I was losing it after not pushing every other contraction for that long..

Well, my body wasn't doing anything it got to 10 and just stayed there, and I just assumed that was normal. Which is probably really odd to assume but I was 22 and a little stupid back then, plus it was my first full-term pregnancy.

she was there telling you not to push, or wouldn't show up?

you were told not to push, or couldn't push?

your story doesn't add up.

plus. you said in this thread your baby was healthy?

Yeah my SO was in Iraq when I had my son so it was just my mom and dad and they weren't there until right before I started pushing. My son was born 7lb 10 oz healthy baby boy. It just upsets me how a hospital is so okay with taking away a woman's experience. It's a special thing that nobody should get in the way of.

Yeah I didn't read anything about you having an urge to push.. That's why I assume it was not excruciating pain! Lol But that whole situation is very odd.. I had a HORRIBLE labor experience as well.. Not anything like yours.. But yeah for a good 6 months after I was NEVER having another baby because of it! Lol But now I have baby fever like crazy! :(

He was HEALTHY...healthy weight, healthy movements, just lazy breather. It's a common occurance for someone who's on an epidural for nearly 3 days. If you don't know that you probably should study a little more medicine. Why do you think baby's born under epidural are always a little more sleepy than those born without?

When you're dilated to a 10 you have sciatica, and you're sitting on a bed waiting for the okay to get your kid out of you...uh...that's CALLED SADISTIC! and I was being told I couldn't physically push by the Ped doc.

but you CLEARLY said that you were not ALLOWED to push for 24 hours. If you were unable to push for 3 hours you would have been a c-section. your shit just doesn't make any sense

rofl..... I'm literally LOL here.

there is no "healthy weight"... I've seen 10 lb babies have respiratory distress.

I've never heard anyone who had a baby spend 5 days in the NICU claim their baby was a "healthy baby"

and... lazy breather? f**k... a baby that isn't breathing... is in distress.

MOST of our patients get epidurals... babies breathe just fine. oh. wait.. maybe it had more to do with being pre-term... and having a double nuchal cord.. that there were respiratory problems?

study more medicine.... yea... cause your story sounds like shit.. and I'm a trained labor nurse. thanks for the education though

um no they aren't lol. I should know since i have 12 years of experience with epidurals and laboring mothers. 5 day NICU stay does not equal healthy baby last I checked. haven't you heard that size doesn't matter? its lung maturity that matters. I have seen 8 lb 35 week babies that have needed respiratory support. size doesn't mean it's healthy.

Yeah, except for the fact that I said I wouldn't have a Cesarian. My doc was insistant and I said unless my life or my child's life was at stake I wouldn't. While my son was IN me he was fine, perfect heartrate, everything was good. 24+ hours I was not feeling the urge to push, but I was certainly ABLE, however I was NOT ALLOWED. Want to know why? ME TOO!!! I never got a straight answer other than the pediatrician wanted me to be 36 weeks which I thought was f**king retarded. Since it was 24 hours f**king difference!
