so a little backgroung first- i was told since i was 17 i would never have a baby due to health issues. there is a lot of mental problems in my family( idont have any that i know of, never had any problems)



so im really nervous that after i have my baby the hormones might trigger some underlying mental problem i didnt know i had. i love my baby and wouldnt do anything to hurt her and HAVE NOT thought about hurting her, im just terrified something is not giong to click right after having her. any thoughts on how to handle this??

I was scared of getting PPD when I was pregnant with my son. It's a normal fear.



Just stay very in tune and HONEST about your feelings with your doctor. PPD is a very common thing to have after a baby, if you do get it you won't be the first or the last but in order to get help your have to tell someone what's happening.

thanks- do you know of anyways to prevent ppd?,, they say if you eat the placenta after you deliver it keeps the risks down. i dont think i could do that to be honest...

There really is no way to prevent it. Some women get it and some don't. The best way to prevent it is to know when to ask for help and say you need a break. Even a 20 minute shower while your mom watches the baby can really help. Like I said. Just be really honest and open with how you're feeling. Nobody can help you if you don't say something.

just beware of your feelings & dont be too prideful to get help if you do. don't let them just shove pills down your throat, there are therapy & other options alongside pills if need be. ive said this on a million posts already, but B-COMPLEX vitamins WORK. i got diagnosed with ppd & am not on any anti depressants . vitamins and natural things to release endorphines such as exercise, chocolate, orgasms, etc. im not against anti depressants, theyre just not for me, just make sure you are honest about how you feel with your doctor.
