Hi ladies, im getting married!!!!! The wedding is going to be in April of 2013. We're not rich but we do have about $3-5,000 to spend! We picked out a dress before discovering that im pregnant so now i'll have to pick another one that will accompany my big belly (which it will be huge by April). We need to book a nice but not so expensive venue for both wedding and reception. Our ceremony will not take place in the same room as the reception but will be in the same area. We have our guestlist, menu, wedding colors, and maids and groomsmenn of honor! I have hired a make up artist for myself and the ladies and think i have a hairstylist in mind. I want you ladies in take on some venues that arent too expensive.

I'm in the process of planning my own wedding as well! Our budget is a little more flexible than yours so we were able to book an out door ceremony and tent reception.

Outdoor weddings aren't expensive at all and you can do so much!

Some options are a public park, field, recreation area, botanical garden, VWF or other hall that is inexpensive..

Im planning a wedding myself 6months i have to plan. We are looking at a hotel with everything included for not so much $ either. Small wedding. And the venue has an indoor ceremony site and reception hall. Also check around venues. If you have alot of immediate family maybe a potluck reception is an idea at a local park or VFW. And i know some venues charge based on a minimum food cost others just charge you to rent the hall.

And as far as dresses. Look at consignment shops or online. You may be able to find on you like and have a friend alter it (if they know how too)

Again the centerpeices. We got those boxes as wedding favors from the dollar tree, we filled them with candy.

Sorry, but I was to a potluck wedding earlier this year and it was tacky as fudge. If it's all you can afford, go for it I guess.. But try to avoid at all costs!

Well i think that is because it probably wasn't set up right.

I have been to a potluck wedding reception before and you couldn't even tell unless someone told you. There we chafers there and every food dish was in a nice chafer or bowl and everything matched. It looked like the food was catered in.

So i didn't think it was that tacky.

There are so many ways to have a budget-conscious wedding without it looking cheap or tacky.

Just google DIY wedding stuff or look on Pinterest for ideas.

What's your guest list like?

Also, we should make a wedding planning thread!!

Also also, CONGRATS ladies!

Thanks so much ladies we have about 150 guests on our list not including those that are in the wedding! I have a very good girlfriend that is designing my invitations and decorating the wedding for me,,,she's a genius when it comes to this type of thing! I too love the wedding thread idea! Brilliant! Its in April so i wouldnt mind having it outside! Where can we get a tent from? Will it fit all our guest and food? Also where is a great place to do wedding favors,,,some say dollar tree others say party city. Tell you what i'll try both! I actually have no idea what a potluck wedding is so im not going to go that route! Also our colors are red, white, and a really really soft cotton candy pink! I love the cake idea for $138 you cant beat that and it was a beautiful cake! She was so stunning on her wedding day! You looked like a plus size model, absolutely amazing,,, you go girl!!!! Oh and congrats to you other ladies!
