Placenta separation at 8 weeks. TTC since May 2014; 5 kids; 2 angel babies; Castlewood, Virginia 3395 posts

I am 8 weeks pregnant and have had some brown spotting off and on for the last few days. I called my dr and he got me in for an ultrasound. He said the baby looks great. Measuring 8 weeks 2 days and a strong heartbeat. But he said I have a 5-10% placenta separation. I've never had this before. He didn't act concerned. He said he wouldn't worry unless it was 40% or more. And he doesn't think it will cause any problems. But that is prob why I'm spotting. Anyone else ever have this and go on to have a healthy baby? I've been googling and apparently it's uncommon to have this in the first trimester.

Sorry, accidentally hit post too soon. The placenta is barely even operating at this point and is no where near normal development to where abruption or separation could be possible.

I thought that myself. But assumed the dr knew more than me. Lol. On the ultrasound you can see a spot where he told me it was, I'm just afraid of losing the baby...

[snip!] ... possible, brown spotting is not unusual and can be nothing to worry about as it is often just old blood clearing itself out. "</blockquote>

He didn't recommend bed rest, he did say pelvic rest though. I don't know. It seems weird. I go back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound. Maybe it'll be normal
Then.

I had a placental tear at 15 weeks with my daughter and it caused bleeding I was put on strict bedrest and had an ultrasound every other week until I was 33 weeks, the bleeding caused pools of blood inside that they were very concerned about I was put with a high risk doctor. I would get a second opinion hun.
