There was just a story on the news about how the government is cutting welfare payments by up to $100.
I say fair enough, if your kid is in primary school you have no reason not to get a job.
The government shouldnt have to pay anyones bills, rent ect
If youre a single mum and your kids under 3 fair enough.
My DH earns enough for both of us but I still will get a job when my kids are older.

Cutting payment for parents when they are old enough to start school? I thought it had always been that way?

Thats old news. Single parents have until their youngest is 8 and partnered have until the youngest is 6 to go back to work

It's changing in nsw. Single mums have to go to tafe or wok when LO is 6 months or there welfare gets cut. Starts officially in January. Existing single parents and partnered jobless family's will also have to start tafe or work or will get benefits cut.

I know because I've been hired by tafe nsw to be a student support officer for these mothers.

Oh and as far as I know it's the entire welfare amount not just $100. It's called the reaching your destination program

I get it but i have no problem going back to work when my kids are in school. I would be so bored staying home doing nothing

I agree!

I think any single parenting is being cut by 100!
Even if their kids arent in school.

Who are you even talking too? I can't see anyone in this thread saying anything about kids going to school at three?
