Every winter I get a crack in my nose. Not the type that bleeds, but the kind when your lip cracks & then keeps ripping back open. It will not however really heal until spring.
We run humidifiers, I have used saline religiously every night. I've tried breastmilk, Vaseline, neosporin, coconut oil & several other things (some painful even) to no avail...it always comes back even if I keep up treatment. I still treat it, as it's better when treated than not - but I was wondering if ANYONE had any other ideas...???? Please. I am willing to try almost anything. It is very painful as it is at the edge & that part of your nose moves a LOT more than you realize...so just smiling or talking or pulling my upper lip down for ANY reason splits it open again. :(

hmm lucas pawpaw cream? lanolin? something to keep it moisturized so its not all dry and rippy. Sorry for the toddler speak, i'm exhausted :P
Quoting justanothamotha:" LOL I totally get toddler speak. :) I never tried lanolin & I HAVE that - so I will. Thanks. I am so tired I can't think of anything else to try & it's BURNY right now."
I sometimes get cracked lips and I'm terrible for pulling the skin off them which makes it so much worse. I was putting the lanolin on after a particularly painful feed (ds was arching away from me and almost ripped my n****e off because he pulled his head away without unlatching) and I thought, "wait a sec, this stuff is for cracked nipples.. maybe it works on cracked lips". the pawpaw cream did pretty much the same thing, kept the cracks hydrated so they weren't ripping and getting worse so they could heal.
best thing I've ever used for sore nose... Mary Kay extra emolient night cream. seriously... awesome. You can buy a small satin hands set from someone who sells mary kay... it'll be in there in a tiny tube
I get it too. Mine gets tight to which makes me want to pick at it. SO tells me to stop picking my nose o_O lol. Nothing helps me either, I just deal until spring, then allergies come and eff it all up again. Lol I've just given up it sucks

Mine gets tight too when it scabs for a minute. :/ Not fun.

Sounds like what I used to get in the side of my mouth.. it was horrible. It was like a cut that would scab over, and I'd have to split it every morning so I could open my mouth properly. It was horrible :(

Is that good in the nose? It doesn't sting? I swear I am writing this stuff down. I am doing Lanolin ATM & it feels pretty good - a little sticky, but I can certainly live with it. Now I just have to see if it will heal if I keep up with it. If not, I will move on to other suggestions.
Quoting justanothamotha:" Pretty much. It scabs over at night mostly. :/ PITA I just wish I new what caused it because I was soooo ... [snip!] ... it came back today. It was feeling funny the last few days & I was wondering & whammo - my long lost winter friend."
Do you get it affter you've been blowing your nose a lot? If it's what I'm imagining it to be, I can't figure out what would cause it :? Have you asked a doc about it?
I also tried treating it for thrush once thinking maybe it was yeast...lol It was fine, any salve helps to some degree, but it was no miracle cure.
Quoting justanothamotha:" Yah - they don't seem to know. They tell me "it happens" and make a lame suggestion like vaseline or ... [snip!] ... a case of dry membrane than runny nose & I think a runny nose might actually help it stay moisturized, gross as that is."
Yeah, that makes sense.. What does Dr Google have to say about it? That's so weird, I really want to know what it is now.
OT - I just realised you're probably the perfect person to ask. DS has a white patch on his tongue, and it had a black spot in the middle of it the other day. The black spot is now light blue, and I have no effing idea what it is. I tried to wipe it off today, some of the white came off but the blue and the white directly around it did not. What the hell is it??
Sorry for jacking your thread :)
