Exactly WHEN did your child begin preschool? Our son is about to turn 3 in Feb and I'm looking in enroll him in the preschool program there to get him socializing and learning before kindergarten in a few years. It'd be two mornings a week from 8:30-10:30am. I'd be paying $77 a month which isn't bad at all. He's potty trained so I wouldn't need to worry there aside from sending spare clothing. Is it too young or do you think it'd do him good? I work so when I do, he goes to grandmas. I feel he's behind on learning and socializing so I feel it'd do him good, but I don't want to rush him either. What do you mamas think?

My son went at 3. My daughter is 3 now and hasn't went yet. They denied her going this year, but she'll probably go next year.

Why was she denied?

He wouldn't go because of the Early Childhood education..this would be a rec center preschool class that I enrolled him in and pay for monthly. Only reason they said they deny is if they're not potty trained, but he is so we're good.

DD's been in daycare full days since she was 11 months, and she loves it. She's 3.5 now and in a daycare that is structured like school, she loves learning and playing and has lots of friends. I support daycare/preschool and I think it's a great idea, especially at 3 when they only have a year before going to school.

R wasn't in "preschool" but for a short time, I was working and he had to go into daycare. He did absolutely wonderful with it. He learned so much, got to be around children (which he never did before) and cope with his separation anxiety. Now that he's not in daycare, he's gone back to his ways before.

He doesn't like other kids, he's super super clingy to me, he has many more tantrums, ect. So for him, going to school was perfect.

I am looking for a job now just so I can afford to put him back in.

I think the first few times might freak Chris out, but once he adjusts, I bet he'll love it. I just fear him being too upset the first couple times....I wonder how the teachers handle that...

My son attended ore-k at 4. We were paying about $350 a month for 5days/half.

She got denied through the public school because when she was screened, she screened very high. My son, however, did not and needed speech therapy. If we want her to go, we'll have to send her to a private one.

You'll be surprised how good the kids do. The teacher said R cried for maybe 10 minutes after I left, and then the next day he told me "bye" and went to wash his hands and sit down for breakfast like it was no big deal. All kids are different though.

I stayed outside and looked into the window (creepy I know) and the teacher gave him lots of hugs and introduced him to all the kids. I was really surprised.

He'll be a brand new 3 when I put him in preschool (like literally cut off is the same week he turns 3), so he'd go to preschool for two years before enrolling in kindergarten. You have to be 5 in the state of CO to go to kindergarten which will work fine since he'll turn 5 in a Feb and start kindergarten that fall at 5.5yrs. :)

Adrianna went to private pre-k from 2-4. This year, she won the "school lottery" and was accepted into the public magnet arts preschool.
