Don't they kind of go hand in hand?

I think the debt ceiling needs to be lowered and the politicians need to get their butts in gear to fix the impending depression if they don't fix the taxes. However I also believe all politician's salaries need to be minimum wage that way they actually do what is best for the country instead of getting all the perks and destroy the country because they only see their well-being.

Blah, it all sucks, doesn't it? I'm tired of seeing a band aid being slapped on it, I'd rather deal with the problems at hand...but that is almost laughable now-a-days.

Make sure the debt ceiling stays the same or gets lowered. We are going over the Fiscal Cliff no matter what now and our borrowing capabilities get cut off on the 1st, also. And people wonder why I'm a prepper... We are screwed.

Cut off the governments' salary (Reps, Pres, cabinet, and Senators) until they get shit fixed.

I am to the point that I throw my hands up. I don't even care anymore. When shit hits the fan , I am sitting back with a smile on my face.

I don't think I have agreed with you on much, if ever, but this^ 100%. Been saying it for years.

Sorry for the post and run.
Given the situation we are in, I've been surprised that there have been 0 posts on the topics (at least that I have seen).
It was really to get people to THINK.

We are in a no-win situation.
The fact that we will hit the debt ceiling earlier than estimated should get people's attention.... But perhaps not on BG where people haven't taken the time to understand the issue.

Funny thing is, I was going to post something similar when I came on, but you beat me to it.

How bad do you think we will hit when we go over the cliff?

I must say that i have no predictions. Lol. I really have no best guess on what the heck will happen.
If we go over and they don't fix anything, I think it will get very bad. I'm not sure our president wants to avoid a bad situation so he can "come to the rescue." The whole situation is sickening.

Very, very bad. FS and welfare will be slashed, farm bill won't pass and many will lose their land. Debt ceiling is going to not be raised and we lose our ability to borrow. People who make $40k a year will see their taxes raise by $3k.

It's sad that there is pretty much no hope.

I think the US is in a unfixable situation right now. The country is heading straight towards where Greece and Spain are without Germany to bail them out.

And people laugh at me for being a prepper. If shit goes down and I'm still in the states, I'm bunkering down.
