Quoting Snotface♫[usmc]:" Your avi is pretty accurate as a response to that nonsense. "
I was thinking the same thing lol.
Some people!! I would be deleting anyone off my fb who posted nonsense like that!
I'm so over pro-birthers. Just shut the fuck up. Shut. The. Fuck. Up.
Yeah, this moron on my friends list said that pro-choicers shouldn't be upset about the Sandy Hook massacre because we "advocate" the "murder" of innocent children everyday.
They're a bunch of jackasses.
<blockquote><b>Quoting ℳary ℐane:</b>" I hate that meme. It's never okay to tell someone to kill themselves, no matter how bird-brained they are."</blockquote>
Quoting Sofia's Mummy♥:" I think a 'Kill Yourself' meme is pretty fitting. People are idiots. It's all I can say."
Quoting Walking in Memphis:" A guy that I know told me that it was wrong for the president to lower the flags to half mast when it ... [snip!] ... are trained to defend themselves while these people were completely defenseless. I can't see how you can even compare the two."
To them I'd say this... they died under the rule of the flag. They died defending the flag. It is tragic... but to have the flag raise high and proud after a soldier dies should be wanted because it is a sign that they died for what they loved... what that red white and blue stands for... what it is.
Those children? They didnt even understand that flag. The citizens of this country (the gunman) failed them, they didnt hold up their end of what that flag means. So the flag is lowered for them, because it shows acknowledgment of the love of the country behind those kids... or anyone that has the mast lowered for them.
I see it as two different things. Lowering a flag for a soldier is one thing, but lowering it every day for them dying in war... Id believe they would want it to stand tall and wave tall because they died for the rights of the flag and the people below it.
oh wait, was it this that you saw?
A guy I've been friends with for many years posted this the other day and I couldn't resist the urge to respond. He drives me nuts anymore.....when we used to hang out, he wasn't so stupid. Or maybe he just didnt' seem so stupid...probably because we were super young and didn't talk about stuff like this IDK.
Anyway, here was our conversation if anyone is interested. I understand if it's WAY too long to read....I can be kind of wordy sometimes, lol
Me: Why must you post things that I can't resist responding to? Lol
1. Roe v Wade
2. Huge, HUGE difference between abortion and the tragedy in Connecticut....for many reasons.
3. A pro-choice stance and the legality of abortion does not = a lack of morals, and women who have had abortions do not lack morals. Furthermore, being pro-choice does not equate to loving abortion. In fact, I'd guess that most people who are pro-choice, including women who have had abortions, wish that situations in which abortion is an option, didn't even exist. Sadly, those situations do happen, and pro-choicers want to ensure abortion is safe and regulated, which requires it to be legal.
4. You value your gun rights just as those who are pro-choice value the rights of women to make decisions regarding their own bodies.
With all of that said, though, gun laws and abortions are two vastly different things. It's really difficult to draw comparisons between the two issues when you're talking law making.
Him: It's murder, plain and simple. I agree that there are some circumstances in which it should be allowed but to have a choice in which to keep a baby or not??? Maybe the choice to have had sex in the first place should have been examined a little more
Me: We won't see eye to eye on it being "murder". I completely disagree. Not to mention, if you truly believe abortion is murder, then how can you condone it under any circumstance? If it's murder, it's murder. You can't call it murder when the reason is something you don't approve of but say it's "ok" when the reason is acceptable to you. The end result is still the same, is it not?
Abortion is a sad reality and it isn't up to anyone but a woman and her physician to question her reasons why. If it is something you view as murder, do you believe women who have them should serve prison sentences similar to actual murderers? Do you view these women (and physicians) as threats to the safety of others?
There are so very many factors that go hand in hand with abortion, it's not always a matter of "keeping your legs closed" or being sexually promiscuous. Plenty of married couples experience pregnancy that, for reasons only they know, isn't right for their family at the time. The reason could be medical, financial, or otherwise personal but some may choose abortion. I can't quite wrap my mind around telling a happily married couple to remain celibate due to the possibility of an unwanted pregnancy. Should they practice safe sex? Absolutely, but birth control does fail. With that said, I certainly agree that people need to be smart in their sexual lives and always take precautions to prevent unwanted pregnancies. It's unfortunate that not everyone is responsible or mature enough to do so.
Let's move on to a different scenario. We'll take a drug addicted prostitute who may or may not have a number if STD's. She has no permanent residence, no legitimate job and therefore no health insurance, resulting in very little access, if any, to appropriate prenatal care. She will continue her drug use and reckless lifestyle throughout her pregnancy if she is unable to have an abortion and has said she absolutely will not consider adoption. In my opinion, while sad, abortion at 8 weeks gestation might be a better option than bringing a drug addicted, std exposed (which can cause grave illness and life long suffering) infant into an environment filled with drugs, probable abuse/neglect and a multitude of other horrible things.
Another thing I see alot of (and I'm not accusing you, Wes) are people who are staunchly pro-life, who are also the first people to complain about those who receive public assistance. I wonder if they realize how many more people would be utilizing public assistance if abortion were to be outlawed. Many abortions are due to the baby having severe developmental anomalies that may or may not be compatible with life. If carried to term, some of these babies may live for undetermined amounts of time....requiring intensive medical intervention for years sometimes. Many of these babies will suffer their entire lives. Although it pales in comparison to human suffering but relevant to my point, there are also the staggering costs of their medical care. That brings me back around to the point I was trying to make. Many who are super pro-life also have a very negative view regarding public assistance. I wonder if they understand how much more public assistance would be used if abortion suddenly became illegal.
In no way am I trying to change your mind. I think the possibility of me changing your mind is about as likely as you changing mine. I'm simply trying to illustrate two things. The first being that abortion isn't a black and white issue. It is a very emotionally draining subject with many factors involved. Admittedly, as someone who is pro-choice, I still have personal struggles with the concept of abortion. It's just a very sad and difficult subject for all involved. The other point I'm trying to convey is that pro-choice individuals are not devoid of morals. They just happen to view abortion much differently than pro-lifers. There are so many reasons people have pro-choice views but I can assure you that no one is pro-choice due to their love of abortion (maybe I shouldn't say no one, there are always sick people out there).
Holy hell, sorry for the novel!
He didn't respond after that......so either I pissed him off (which happens often) or he couldn't come up with anything that sounded even remotely smart, lol

I think you made your point really well. I'd love to see a response from him.

hahaha! Thanks :)
I don't think he'll respond back......there was another time that we got into it after he posted something about AR 15 rifles and how Dick's Sporting goods was pulling them from their shelves and he said he wouldn't spend any more money in that store. He was also one of the people who was hardcore supporting Chick fil a when people were boycotting them for their stance on gay marriage. He said it was stupid for people to boycot the restaurant due to their political beliefs. I pointed out how much of a hypocrite he was and he responded once and then I gave him a HUGE response and then he never responded back
He'll probably end up unfriending me at some point. Oh well

Omg that's funny. With these people it seems like you can reason with them and try to talk sense all day long but nothing will ever get through.

yep, people like him are so narrow minded that they fail to see any logic behind the other end of the arguement.
As someone who is very much pro-choice, I can still understand why people want to be pro life. I completely understand their sentiments. It won't change my opinion on the subject, but I can get where they're coming from. Often, I find that is not the case with people like this guy. He either isn't able to comprehend the point of the opposition or he just refuses to acknowledge it. Either way, I think it shows poor character......especially when you liken abortion to what happened in Connecticut. To even make that comparison is disgusting to me.

They're exploiting the deaths of children and manipulating what happened to further their own agenda, be it pro-lifers, religious nuts or whatever.
An idiot on here tried to bitch me out for pointing out that jesus Christ wasn't born on dec 25th in a thread about Santa claus, she told me it was disrespectful because of what's going on in the USA right now :roll:
Quoting Sofia's Mummy♥:" <blockquote><b>Quoting wombie:</b>" yep, people like him are so narrow minded that ... [snip!] ... in a thread about Santa claus, she told me it was disrespectful because of what's going on in the USA right now :roll:"
what in the.....
how does......I mean....that has absolutely nothing to do with what happened.
<blockquote><b>Quoting wombie:</b>" what in the..... I just.... how does......I mean....that has absolutely nothing to do with what happened."</blockquote>
I know. Then she tried to say she wasn't referring to sandy hook but wouldn't give anything else that she was referring to
