home remedies for a cough Mommy of a giggler! 2 kids; Edmonton, Alberta 9017 posts

Suggestions?

He's just 3, coughing and nasal congestion. Also has adnoids and tonsils that are oversized and scheduled to be taken out. He can't sleep because he's coughing so bad.

I already put baby vicks on his chest. Our humidifier was gross so I had to chuck it and forgot to get a new one today. He doesn't want to be held so sitting in the bathroom with him is out.

Anything else I can possibly do?

Baby vicks on the feet, feed him crushed garlic hid in food. Crush garlic and olive oil and rub on feet, chest and back then cover. Wet cotton socks at night with cold water, wrong them out put them on put wool or fleece over them and go to sleep. Repeat if the lo wakes up dry.

I'll have to try the garlic on his feet - he won't eat anything right now (it's like 5 hours past when he normally goes to bed) so I can't trick him into eating it. Does it have to be cold water? Thinking it might startle him a little lol

Honey works well for coughing all you need is a teaspoon full

You have to infuse and dilute in a lot of carrier oil like olive or coconut. It can't be straight or it will burn.

I'm going to try honey tonight, and I'm going to run out and get a humidifer once my husband wakes up. IF walmart is open today that is.

Yeah I didn't look into it before doing it, lol. Having a burn on the bottom of your foot sucks.
