Yea. I feel like the labor pain makes the experience what it is. It seems to create a very special bond. Not that all mothers don't have a special bond with their children but when you've gone through the pain it gives you a certain connection with them. I don't know how to describe it.

wow! what took so long??!! I've seen them get a baby out in 11 minutes after finding a p*******d cord!
I was driving to work about 6a and realized I was having some pretty bad back pain but just shrugged it off and I worked the whole day pain got worse as day went on. I got home told the hubs that we should go to er and I was admitted to be evaluated cause my contractions were 2 to 4 mins apart but only 2 cm so they said I looked exhausted (had been up 24 hrs and worked 8 of those in labor!) And gave me some muscle relaxers to go home and sleep said the contactions would stop but if they came back then to come back so I went home and slept from about 7a to 11:30a and the contractions were gone so naturally I started cleaning house and doing laundry and by about 2:30-3p I called the hubs home from work told him we needed to go back. Got admitted about 4:15p and the nurses were concerned about the babys movement on the monitor and heart rate dropping they were talking er c section but baby had other plans thank goodness! They broke my water....got my epidural.....doctor came in her street clothes asked if I thought I could push I said yes she said try and I did she said baby is VERY low she changed her clothes I pushed less then an hr and my son was 7lbs 4.5oz and 20inch long at 7:52p. I had an amazing delivery soooo lucky!
Quoting Ms.Eagles:" It was amazing! I wouldn't say I *enjoyed* labour -- but it definitely didn't scare me out of wanting ... [snip!] ... one of the first things out of my mouth after was, "I birth babies like a champ!" lol I'm very happy with my labour story :)"
Thats awesome!! I wish I could have felt that way about it. lol Maybe one day I'll get over it and decide to have another. I know what to expect now and they do say the second is MUCH easier, but for now... HELL NO! lol
with my first.. I went into the hospital at 1 am.. I was a 3, contractions every 2-3 minutes apart. I didn't progress, and didn't want a section, they started me on pit at some point. (details fuzzy, 10 yrs ago). I kept insisting NO section as long as baby looked ok, would not agree just for failure to progress. They stopped pit at 11 the next night so I could sleep, afraid I couldn't push from exhaustion if they didn't.
I stayed at three.... checked at times, I kept refusing c-section. I had an intrathecal at 8 am... at noonthirty they checked again, still a 3. 15 minutes later I insisted I needed to push, the nurse refused to check me, said I was a 3 still and made me agree to an enema. (wtf?).. nothing there... since I hadn't eaten in days from labor. I got back to bed... now almost involuntarily pushing..she finally agrees to check me..and instantly freaks out yelling for the dr that I'm a 9 (f**k that, baby was crowning).. my oldest was born at 115 after 15 minutes of pushing.

Crazy!! f**k all that!! I know when I had to push I HAD to push. My body started pushing with out me. In between pushed I wanted to take a break so bad and just rest but my body wouldnt let me!. I'd throat punch that nurse lol you can get away with that stuff in labor

lol... um no. labor or not, I'd file assault charges if one of my patients hit me.. and I've told them that before
Started getting uncomfortable around 730pm. Took my ambien thinking my labor would be long so i coild get some sleep, boy was i wrong. Got in our hot tub at home from 8to830. My SO was sleeping since 6pm and at 9 his parents went to bed(we live with them). Called my mom about 11, she told me to take a hot bath. I did, got out when water got cold. Laid on our bed for a while till I woke SO up from screaming. Got to the hosptial about 130am at 6cm. Admitted at 230 at 8 cm. Got my epi at 9 cm at 3 or 4am then my labor slowed. Started pushing at 730am and had my 6lb 1oz baby bout at 810am.
i had a sweep on the tues and had pains all day then they stopped. then again on wed then they stopped at night. then on thurs i had more pains. didnt think much about them as i thought they would stop so carried on. went to my mums about 11am and had some toast then about 3.30pm took my dog out. then so come home and we went shopping. i was walking around having contractions. got home and decided to have a bath. when i got out i phoned l&d and they told me to come in when i couldnt take it anymore. went in at 9pm and i was nearly 4cm. checked again at 2am and i was 6cm. 5am i couldnt take anymore so i got the gas and air. checked again at 9am and i was ready. pushed for 2hours with no luck. jess was coming down then going back up. i was very dehidrated and had no energy from not eating all day so got put on a drip. at 11.15 jess' heart rate was dropping so i begged them to just get her out. i had forceps and jess was born at 11.35am on friday morning. the worst part for me was the stiches./ they hurt more than labour! very proud of myself for not having any drugs other than the gas.
when i got home mhy stiches got infected so i was on meds then i got hemmeroids just to top it off. it was all worth it as jess is my world! she was 7lb12oz when born. i cant wait to do it again :)
Friday 7/27 9:30am I went to my gyno to get my 38 week checkup blood pressure through the roof again (they wouldn't listen to me about it till then) So I got sent to the hospital by 10pm I was admitted and in a bed sitting...got told they wanted to induce ty blood pressure for ruining my ideal birth, but they wouldn't induce till the following morning...didn't get to eat something till 7pm that night and it was my last meal. They gave me that cervical softner thing overnight and at 7:15am I was given picw/e went from 0cm to 7cm with no epi then I begged for one when I tried to eat the bed rails contractions were horrid. Got the epi it didn't work but on the left side and barely at that but by 2:10pm I was pushing and 5 mins later I had my daughter with no pain meds (they took the epi out since it wasn't working right) they had worries about her since she had poop in the water turns out she is just a big pooper, she was great healthy and 21 in 8.4lbs.
Here are mine. lol
Woke up at 8am, felt sick. Ex made me go to the hospital (was my due date) got to the hospital at 8:45am, waited to see the dr on l&d floor. He broke my water for me right away, wheeled me into the delivery room at 9:11am. I pushed twice and she was born at 9:15am. lol she was 7lbs (no oz) and 19 inches long
I slept througth all the first stages of labor all togther. lol
My second dd, I woke up around 5amish, ffelt weird (my due date) called my midwife, she came to the house and checked me out. Said I was in labor. She called the other midwives to come out. My parents got there around 8am, so did babies dad.
We played scrabble and monoply and cards, till about 11am, when labor started to really kick in. lol
I started pushing at 12:45pm, lo got stuck on her travels out. lol and after pushing and pushing and pushing I was flipped to my hands and knees, and both midwives had to reach in and pull her out. Ava was not breathing at this time, she had been stuck for too long. But they were able to kick start her back up again, and she was fine. She was born at 1:19pm 8lbs 8oz and 21 inches long
My 3rd. I was due feb 12th. Went for a bedside ultrasound on the 4th of feb. Dr decided that it would be best to have a c-section right then and there. So they did. My midwife attended the c-section as well. Lo was transverse and her head was postioned in an akward way, they felt if I went into labor on my own it could be damaging to her neck.
I honestly have no memory of what time they started at or what time she was born. As soon as she was out, she was rushed to the NICU, where she stayed for 7 days, in an incubator,, and being tube fed. Chloe was 6 hrs old the first time I got to meet her. It took that long for the drugs from the c-section to ware off. My legs were still numb and couldnt walk.
But Chloe was 7lbs 8oz and 22 inches long.
My first son's labor and delivery was horrible and he was in the NICU for a little while after birth so I'd rather just forget about the whole thing. He is now, however, a happy 3 year old.
My second's was PERFECT. I got on the train and went to L&D as soon as I started getting regular contractions. I was 38 weeks and 4 days. It was my mom's birthday and we thought they were going to share it but he came at 2:31am the next day.
I was 4cm when I got to the hospital, walked around a bit, met DH when he got a babysitter for our 3 year old, went back to triage and BAM my water broke. I went from 5cm to 9 in like 20 minutes. Luckily a bed opened up in L&D at the same exact time so I got rushed there and started pushing as they hauled me from one bed to another lol. I pushed fo an hour and 40 minutes but it felt like 20 minutes, it went by so fast. I went all natural :) but I had to get an episiotomy. Kiddo was born at 8lbs 12oz and 21.5 inches long.
As they stitched me up and waited for me to deliver the placenta[which took nearly an hour and resulted in a lot of blood loss] I was able to hold my newb and put him to the breast. He latched right away. :) Then they took him to the nursery to get him cleaned up while I went to maternity and I was relieved because I was so exhausted. But when I fell asleep and woke up I was like where is my baby?! And dragged my bloody self and my IV pole to the nursery and demanded that they take him to me lol.
It was a great experience. I remember it so well because it was only 6 months ago lol.
I had a sweep on the Thursday and had contractions that night, I rang the hospital the following morning and they told me to take a bath! The next evening I decided to go in and they checked me and I was only 1.5cm so went home still contracting, not slept since Wednesday night, then up all night again with really bad contractions, went into hospital saturday afternoon still no sleep, only 3cm! My mum and husband got sent home and said nothing will happen tonight PPPFFT! so i was put in a ward but was on my own, they told me to get some sleep!! I was rolling around with bad contraction and then I demanded they checked me, just because I wasn't screaming the place down they thought I wasn't in enough pain to be very far yet. I demanded they checked me 2.30am and as she did my waters broke all over her haha 7cm! I phoned my husband and mum back, Still contracted for another 6hours then at about 9am I went into hypo-sensitive and did not have breaks between contractions and my body was constantly pushing by itself. I pushed for 2 hours and then she got stuck, she had decided to spin round back to back, they tried suction and also cut me, and then I ended up with a c-section at 10.16am and got my beautiful daughter Jessica Helen Charlton 8ib 6oz at 5 days early. And then i got my stitches in my belly and also in my bits!! But would do it all again tomorrow. x

Yea, sadly I didn't get to bond right after having her. I held her for a few minutes but because I was still out of it since they had to put me out for the c-section they put her in the nursery. Then when I woke up from being out of it, I woke up in a panic not knowing where she was & I looked on the board in the room & they had wrote down the nursery number. I called the nursery & they told me they were taking her to the NICU :( She was having issues with her blood sugar & stopped breathing for 20 seconds. Then they found that she had an infection so she had to stay a week for them to give her antibiotics.

:( I'd be freaking out!! I was VERY adamant about her not leaving my side. And she never did. I drove to the next town to go to a "Baby Friendly" hospital.
