How harmful is 2nd hand smoke around fetus? posts
3rd Jan '13

Ive worked at a bar for 2 months. Im what you call a body shot girl and I sometimes cash. I found out I was pregnant on Monday and went to work the next day. I kno that if I smoke its harmful to the baby but on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is it when other smoke around you? Working at the bar everyone smokes all the time and sometimes they smoke illegal substances but I dont want to leave my job. I havent told my boss that Im pregnant yet because I fear he'll fire me and this is the best job Ive ever had and the money and tips are excellent. Im able to pay my rent buy necessities and still have money left over for myself. I dont want to work anywhere else.

That sucks. We are a smoke free state now and it's wonderful.

You definitely should not be in that environment while pregnant. I used to do that too and the money is amazing but it's not worth you and your childs health.

With that kind of job, I'm pretty sure your gonna have to stop anyways lol. I cant see many guys wanting to do body shots off your pregnant belly  As for the OQ, they second hand smoke is worse for you than actually smoking, so I am going to assume the same thing applys for your baby.

Umm, I would say if you're around it occasionally, its fine. Since its your job, and you're around it all the time, I would say its definitely harmful. I would rate that an 8 or 9, with 10 being the worst.

Well you need to figure out whats more important: money or your childs health. The answer is obvious to anyone with a brain.

I use to have that same job as you.And I would say if you job is anything like mine you won't be able to keep doing it once your showing. But maybe you can work in a diffrent department just until you get your body back?

For us they hired us a models so that way they could fire us if we gain weight. that was in NV and they have different laws in each state.

I would say the second hand smoke is probably equal to you smoking a little bit, because depending on how much smoke is in the place you work you will be inhaling it. So maybe a whole shift is like 1 or 2. I don't really know the exact. It all depends on the amount of people smoking, ventilation, size of building ect.

I would talk to your OBGYN about this

Is the money worth the risk of your child?

The money is great now, but once your body starts changing your tips will take a nose dive. Better find another job sooner than later. No tips are worth your baby's health.

OOR she could not have the baby. OP If this is not the time in your life to give up things you love for your baby then nothing is wrong with that, but it means you should not be a Mom yet.

Lots of people get pregnant when they still want to do things that are not good to do while pregnant so they choose to terminate.

So I think if your job is really more important than the health of you baby then you need to choose your job and not start a family at this time
