Oh no. Just no. Carseat Safety. user banned
5th Jan '13

A friend of mine on FB posted this picture of her son and her friend's son together in their carseats. It popped up in my newsfeed and I saw it when I was scrolling through. My jaw dropped and all I could say was "No. Oh no." I want to tell her how unsafe it is without coming across as rude. I've posted things on FB before about carseat safety. She's even liked a few. I can't quite figure out how to word how unsafe it is for their kids without making her mad or coming off as rude or a know it all. Any ideas?

People think that cold weather means coats in carseats instead of warming up their car first.. I have a friend like this too.

I'm a bit confused about what is unsafe about the two carseats being next to each other?

Message her?
Be warned that no matter how well you word it she'll probably still take it as rude. People get really defensive when it comes to their parenting, but at least it'll put the thought into her head to do some research on how to use a carseat safely.

Wow. that is exactly what NOT to do.

I would just tell her straight up that the was they are in is sooo dangerous and that she needs to watch a video and post a youtube clip for her to see.

If she gets mad, oh well. At least you will know you tried to make her kid safer.

Why even buckle them in if you are going to do that? Seriously.

If my daughter wears her coat out to the car I take it off her before putting her in her seat. I'll take that extra time. Then she gets a blanket and the heat on high until the car warms completely up.

this, no matter what you say it's going to rub her the wrong way. But, at least she will know that what she's doing is unsafe.

If you think that is what the problem is, you need to watch a video, too.

Send her a message?

I have someone on my FB who has been forward facing her son since he was 3 months old. She knows it's wrong, but still does it. I've yet to say anything.

Honestly I would just be rude. Everyday when I leave for work its -1, at least...and my two year old does not wear his super big jacket in the car. He has a fleece-lined wind breaker type coat...its not thick and k never have to adjust his seat belt.
