DS is 11 weeks old, and he's been kinda grumpy the last few days. Nothing major, but he's been crying more than usual, even when he's on the boob. It started at night, which was normal for him, and I thought I was just keeping him up too late so tried putting him to bed earlier last night but he was still up and grizzling until the normal time he goes to bed. When he cries on the boob it sounds like he has a sore tummy or something, and he's been tensing up and crying when I feed him for a few days. His poop is normal. It's also summer and hot as a mofo here, so I'm thinking this could also contribute? Gah I don't know. I'm just worried he's in pain and I'm doing nothing to stop it :(

Does he spit up a lot? Is he really gassy?
Does he arch his back when he is crying?

It could be a variety of things but It sounds like you might have an overactive let down. Try pumping until you feel your let down and then latch him. Also, you can lay on your back and put him on your chest when breastfeeding in order to get the milk to not come out as fast. Does he choke on the breast sometimes to?

Over-active let down can cause them to suck air in and cause gas.

Hmm that's a good point. I've been waking up with huge boobs because he's sleeping through the night and I'm still producing milk, so it would be a bit forceful for that first feed. My supply regulated weeks ago, but he's cut out the nighttime feed so it's probably messed it up again.
He's not much of a puker.. he spit up a tiny bit today, but he does that every now and then. Doesn't arch, he just planks and goes stiff sometimes lol. I don't think it's gas.
