Quoting ~Ice Princess~:" So I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow because I haven't had a period since August 29th (139 days) ... [snip!] ... not sure where to start. Anyone else deal with this? What did you do? For the above drugs, has anyone had success quickly??"

Have they done a complete PCOS work up on you? If not you should demand a complete PCOS work up and go from there. That's a whole panel of blood tests and an ultrasound. This should be the first thing addressed regardless of fertility because it is a general health issue. It concerns me that you have been diagnosed for it but not treated. If your doctor doesn't seem knowledgeable about PCOS or seems reluctant to test for it, find a new one. Unfortunately far too many OBs and family practitioners are simply uneducated about the health risks associated with PCOS.

Included with your PCOS work up should be a 3 hour glucose tolerance test to find if you are insulin resistant. If you're not, metformin won't do anything for you in TTC. If all the other stuff comes back negative for PCOS, demand that other tests be run to find out why your periods are not regular. Honestly from your past posts I'm thinking you probably should see an endocrinologist.

But the bottom line here is TTC. You want to make sure you have the right diagnosis so you can be treated for it the right way, and not ignoring some other underlying issue that prevents you from conceiving. Metformin + Clomid have been successful for many, many women with PCOS.

I thought it made you ovulate????

You're supposed to take it on certain days and then start tracking, right?

I was afraid of putting more hormones in my body and ending up with multiples...but at this point, I don't care if it's 10 kids..haha

I had a fasting glucose test? That's the one that said my insulin was high. I had my cholesterol checked too. The total was good, but the bad was too high? And high triglycerides.

I requested the lady I'm seeing tomorrow because she's the only one who seems to think I'm not crazy. She's actually a CNM.
My GYN is a b***h. She keeps blaming it on my weight and saying 3 kids is plenty. It's not her choice on how I live. So she keeps telling me to take BC. And with it, I'm still skipping or starting WAYYY late.
It's so frustrating.
If they don't do something, or at least start it tomorrow, I'm switching doctors.

If they don't seem concerned, I'm going to at least ask for a referral for an endocrinologist.

Was the glucose test a 3 hour one? What about other blood tests like TSH, FSH, LH, androgens, and prolactin. Ask for each one of those if they haven't tested them before. It does sound like you need a new doctor. :? Is an RE out of the question?

That's what I would do, for sure. Didn't you say in another thread that you had some thyroid issues? I may be wrong but it had something to do with difficulty in losing weight.

The only thing I find weird is they keep saying that my testosterone is fine......but I have BLACK coarse hair on my FACE. How's that possible?
It's popping up on my belly and chest too. I pluck it.

And I'm as white as they come. So it has nothing to do with my ethnicity, ya know?
I think they're messing up on my tests or something.

They're saying it was fine too, but I have a lump on my throat. He said it was my lymph nodes..ugh.

What about acne? The migraines may be a sign too.

Idk about FSH and LH. But the TSH and androgens they said were fine. My prolactin came back elevated once but then it was fine the next time.

If it's NOT PCOS, I think it's something to do with my pituitary gland for sure.

Oh, and it was an overnight one--the glucose.

I have acne. It varies on how bad it is though. It gets really bad under my chin area. And on my cheeks.

And of course the one time I had an US in 2011 (I've had another since), I was ovulating. Like right then I guess. Which I started exactly 14 days after that...then not again for a while.

Hmm I think I would ask for a referral to an endocrinologist despite what they say. You have a lot of PCOS symptoms for those tests to be normal imo.

That's what I was thinking. I even have dark patches of skin on my underarms and thighs. Like velvety, thin skin.
Hopefully, Christine (CNM) will help me. She seems to be the only one with a lick of sense up there.
