Who has had a root canal? anyone had a tooth pulled insted of going through the root canal?

My very last top molar needs a root canal..and its going to be done very soon. After talking to my hubby, we both think I should just get it pulled.
Saves a ton of money, and most root canals are short term fixes anyway...usually resulting inthat tooth being pulled out later anyway.
Since its the molar farthest back in the back....there wont be any gaps in my teeth...and you wont see it when I smile or anything.

I dont know what to do.
Anyones personalexpierences would be nice!

i'd just get it pulled if I was you!

I don't have any professional experience to be saying this, but i was a receptionist at a dentist's office, and i assisted during a root canal once. ICK. (edited to say: watching the procedure was ICK...not the actual root canal) lol, and also, like you said it is very expensive...and if you could just get rid of the problem all together, i would! especially since it's your molar!

Are you planning on getting a fake tooth (can't think of the actual word)to replace the pulled one? If so then the root canal would be cheaper. But if you decide to get it pulled and not replace the tooth. Then pulling it would be a better route for you. I have had a root canal done and it's not fun :(

Just think about when you're older, you will have hollows in your cheeks, and if it's only on one side eeewwww-ask me I know.My daughter asked me the other day why I have a dimple in only one of my cheeks .I have had at least 4 root canals, and mine never hurt-because I have a great dentist(I never took pain meds other than tylenol and went to work after two). Most really good dentists won't pull teeth anymore, they have the Save the tooth attitude-I say go root canal!!!!

I had a root canal a few years back and had a tooth-colored crown put in and I definitely don't regret it. I had my wisdom teeth pulled out after they'd already grown in and personally, I'd rather take the root canal, but that's just me. I like my teeth in my mouth...where they belong.

I had a root canal done, and it didn't hurt at all. I personally am glad that I had it done because I didn't want a whole in my mouth. I like for my teeth to stay where they are. Getting my gums cut back hurt like hell though.
