It just annoys me that they won't reduce unnecessary government spending or their own paychecks, but they're so quick to raise taxes and threaten to take away military retirement, etc.

Yes, I do.
We have become a country of indigents.

Conservatives do not spend less than liberals. That's a big fat myth.

You think if we had a conservative president that spending would be as high?

Yes I do. Under Bush our spending was out of control.

If you think that, you must not pay attention to current events.
Our current president has plans to increase spending and his opposition wants to reduce spending AND has submitted budget proposals to do so.
Bush was a spender but not in comparison to Obama.

I hope people realize that the more educated a person is, the more likely they have become to be a Dem....

The Pew Research Center released data in August 2012 about GOP gains among working-class white voters that found: "Lower-income and less educated whites also have shifted substantially toward the Republican Party since 2008."

http://www.politifact.com/georgia/statements/2012/nov/05/larry-sabato/education-level-tied-voting-tendencies/

Nearly none of the people *I* know that voted for Obama (or I assume they did by the way they talk as I don't actually outright ask people who they voted for) get no "assistance' unless maybe you are counting Social Security & Medicare. FWIW I know just as many Republicans getting Social Security & Meidcare though, so that's hardly noteworthy.

I voted for Obama because Romney is a wealthy asshat who is so out of touch with the average American he doesn't even know when he is being condescending. I am a SAHM for the past 2 yrs & before that have paid for my own education as well as worked for 20 yrs & left the job market of my own free will making a nice income. My home & cars are paid off. I get no assistance now nor have I ever. I think assuming those that voted for Obama are lazy & live off the system is pretty ignorant & sounds exactly like something Romney would say. I didn't want to vote for Obama BUT I absolutely didn't want Romney in office & that was the largest determiner in NOT voting for Romney. Romney was his own worst enemy - you could have put *almost* anyone next to him & I'd have voted for "the other one".

:!:

Romney shot himself in the foot by alienating women and Hispanics alike, and then has the nerve to have a hissy fit when they decide not to vote for him? He was very out of touch with reality.

"Elitist"? Hahahahaha, or wait, you were serious. Talk about missing the whole point. As opposed to saying those who voted for Obama are looking for handout.

I'm referring to the studies showing that the uneducated vote GOP.

And this isn't elitist in your opinion - THIS is what started the debate:
Quote from the OP
" Romney lost the last election for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest is that his message was "we can shrink government, we can put you back to work, we can get you tax relief by reducing the rolls of dependency, we can roll back and repeal Obamacare, we can make you more independent and self reliant."

Obama's message, meanwhile, was "I will take care of you, I will ease or remove the consequences of your poor decisions, I will remove the stress of not having a job by keeping the checks coming. I will help you keep the car, the boat, the motorcycle and cable TV without you having to relocate to where work might be. I will prop up your artificially high wages and benefits by bailing out unions. I will give you daycare, healthcare, free birth control that you may be able to continue to fornicate like rabbits. If the birth control doesn't work, I'll make sure you can kill the fetus up to birth if it's an inconvenience to you. We will never judge you or demand anything from you but your vote. And I will stick it to the rich, who are the reason you have nothing, cannot get anything, and will never have anything."

What? I am still lost how showing that research indicates that higher educated people have been moving toward voting Dem while those most likely to be on social programs - lower educated/lower income - are leaning more toward Republican these days....and this is in recent years, since Obama has been in office.

I kind of thought the point of debate was to poke holes in theories like "those who voted for Obama want handouts" - so hence I am poking at the theory. People with the highest education levels are the least likely to be on social programs, as such it is worthy of pointing out.

here - think of it like this. If you put in higher educated which generally means higher earning into the following idea...

I will take care of you, -don't need you to
I will ease or remove the consequences of your poor decisions, - again not needed
I will remove the stress of not having a job by keeping the checks coming. - I have an adequate income TYVM
I will help you keep the car, the boat, the motorcycle and cable TV without you having to relocate to where work might be. - I can afford it already, but thanks anyway.
I will prop up your artificially high wages and benefits by bailing out unions. - never worked for union in my life
I will give you daycare, healthcare, free birth control that you may be able to continue to fornicate like rabbits. - great but I stay at home now, have insurance & use natural family planning, so again, no thanks, but I sure am glad free birth control IS available & anyone who isn't glad ought to be examined
If the birth control doesn't work, I'll make sure you can kill the fetus up to birth if it's an inconvenience to you. - WTF? for real
We will never judge you or demand anything from you but your vote. - nor should you - you are a political party - I owe you nothing.
And I will stick it to the rich, who are the reason you have nothing, cannot get anything, and will never have anything - I have plenty, not sure who you are aiming this at.

I agree with the quote in the OP sounding elitist.
My comment was in response to your statement of "I hope people realize..."
