Yeah not being able to get up would drive me crazy! My mom actually called me a hippie mom last night. Lol. Bc I want to wear my baby and make the baby food and breast feed. Lol. I haven't even told her about not wanting to cut the cord until after it stops pulsing or breast feeding as soon as he is born.

I was having what I though were really sharp cervix pains around 15 weeks and was sent to a high risk doctor. He told me that you can't have pain in your cervix ( the way he worded it surprised me). The pain went away after a day or two and the ultrasound showed my cervix was fine. If the pain gets worse call your dr. or go in if it will make you feel better. Could just be stretching.

Is the new birthing centre a provincial initiative? With the midwifery?

The fam bam had pizza last night. I can't even stand pizza right now... Yuk... Which is fine cuz a small gluten free pizza is 9.99 for pepperoni....
I paid 7.99 for a large for them last night.

I had a wonderful gluten free poutine!!!! YUM!!!! Now were talking!!!!

I don't know if it's provincially influenced but I do know it's heavily locally influenced. There is a group of people that work with focus groups to increase the family friendliness and ease of access here because they want more families to move here and be with their SOs who already work up here (better retention) but the population increased far faster than the infrastructure could keep up with. Now they're playing catch up but trying to make those things specific to what the community needs. In the past it's been roads, bridges, overpasses, traffic congestion; then it was housing, then it was hospital equipment and emergency transport, and now with 43 % of the female population being of birthing age and 140 babies born a month to a 7 bed unit, their focus was put to birthing only to discover that a high population of women were either driving 5 hours to Edmonton or wish they could have to have their babies with midwives. So now they're looking at getting a couple midwives and a birthing center
