Medical is no joke.

Canada has completely free health care don't they? Or no?

Hi ladies, I was hoping I might be able to get some reassurance from some of you on here! I have been having weird pains lately in my lower abdomen - it's almost like a pulsing type pain where it comes and then fades away repeatedly. I've been getting them off and on for a few days now....I thought at first it was the round ligament pains as it happens in my lower tummy, but it isn't brought on by movement or changing positions, I will actually feel it a lot while I'm just lying down in bed or watching a movie, etc. Is this something I should worry about??

I haven't called my doctor's office about it yet because I have an appt scheduled for next week already, and, the nurse that I always talk to at the office isn't very patient/doesn't seem to know what she's talking about a lot of the time. She told me it's WAY too early for me to possibly be experiencing braxton hicks at 20 weeks, etc but everything I've found has said the opposite. :-/

Anyway.....I'm trying really hard not to worry but I'm finding my mind running away with me and thinking about worst case scenarios like premature labor coming on or placental abruption, etc. Yikes! Anyone else have something similar now or in a previous pregnancy??

In a way but also not. It depends on where you live and whether or not your income warrants being subsidized. Like Alberta residents don't pay medical (I suspect it's because Alberta pays for so much of the country with the oil) but in BC I might pay as much as $300 a month or ad little as nothing if I make less than 20,000 a year. So most of us do pay a monthly amount to some degree but that includes any and all necessary health care, there's nothing not covered if your doctor says its necessary.

I used to get round ligament pain (thats what they told me it was) all the time randomly. It wasnt just with position change or what not.

Either way I would definitely mention it to your doc and if it gets really painful then definitely get it checked out sooner.

I get pains in my belly sometimes too. I've had them way low down at the bottom of my stomach and on the sides. My doctor told me it was normal and just stretching pains. You can have bh at 20 weeks though, I know I've had a few here and there. I would just mention it to the doctor for peace of mind but if it starts getting worse or you have anything else come up I'd call before your appointment. My doctor told me I was going to have all kinds of aches and pains along the way so try not to worry. Make sure you stay hydrated, I think you can have cramps from not drinking enough water.

Hi all...it has been weeks since I have posted. I was in VA and PA vacationing and visiting family. I stopped in here some to check up on everyone. I can't believe I only have 14 weeks left (if everything works out for a repeat c-section at 39wks). My baby is a super mover. If I sit or lay down all she does is kick. I'm wondering if I have enough fluid or if she is running out of room already. I have a dr. appt Thursday.

Hope everyone is doing well...fill me in if there have been any good/bad happenings in here, not sure I have the patience to read like 30 pages!

I had BH contractions at around 18 weeks this pregnancy. Not sure why your dr. would say 20 weeks is too soon, definitely possible. My BH are uncomfortable but not really painful. I think your pain must be from something else. I have BH contractions at least 10 times a day now and I can predict when they will come. If I bend down to get something (squishing my belly a little), if I'm stressed, TMI (orgasm), or just plan uncomfortable I will have a contraction. It sucks.

I think your pain is probably from round ligament pain especially if it is your first baby. You should talk to your dr though just in case.
