I don't think so.
I just block anyone I don't want to be friends with so I don't have to deal with anything.
I always decline people, and they don't message me so apparently they are just looking for more friends on facebook.
I'm always stuck in this boat IRL I run in to people I've been in school with since like first grade but never were friends or talked to them, and now I see them out and they try to have a convo with me. It's like really? the polite thing to do is just not talk to me lol.
But I know what you mean about it being so overly serious for some people. My MIL is one of them. She had a huge virus on her page yesterday and I reported her account and deleted her. So I called her and let her know what was up. So she goes in a changes her account password and then says it was sent to 40 other people me being one of them and I was the only one who deleted her. I'm like I run a business off of facebook, and I need my computer to run that business also. The virus she had completely wiped out her computer including her anti-virus! I don't need that smurf!
Quoting Thisperyears:" If someone tries to add me that I don't want to deal with, I just ignore their friend request. As long ... [snip!] ... re add you and if they message you you have the option to block them. Then it's only awkward if you run into them irl lol."
THIS!!!! a million times this!
Quoting Deborah B.:" THIS!!!! a million times this!"
