I have a gate on my sons bedroom door and make sure his room is safe and I can always hear him. That way if he wakes up while we're asleep, he won't be able to roam the house climb tables get knives and go out the front door. How do you contain your toddler in case they wake while you're sleeping at night or early in the morning, or just so they will be safe and out if the way while you're busy? Or do you? If not, do they ever roam while you're sleeping? What do I do once he climbs the gate? He's always getting into trouble and its not safe for him to be alone in the house, so I'm curious hiw other people deal with this.. At what age do you not use a gate, or what about people whose room is far from their kids? His room is next to ours.
We live in a trailer with thin walls. We can always hear them when they wake up, even with there doors closed. We keep ours open. Even if I procrastinate getting up, they don't try to leave their rooms.
How old is he? We used one with my son when he learned to walk, but it didn't last long because he learned to climb over it. I didn't use anything after that. We have high locks on all the doors, and our house is baby/kid proofed pretty well. He doesn't roam around the house, though. He never has. He wakes up and comes straight to my room to wake me up.
I used a gate until my kids were potty trained. Luckily my kids are loud so I always wake up to them before they have a chance to attack lol.

2 and 2 months. He can easily climb it but he doesn't. I try not to bring it to his attention. I'd like to think he'd come in our room to wake us but I don't wanna risk the first night. A kid in my area recently hit out and drown in a lake while everyone was sleeping. He was almost two. Also the gate keeps him in when I'm busy and there's lots to do in there, and it keeps the digs out. Only hair free room in the house! Lol
I don't find that many people use gates with kids his age, but I couldn't imagine not! He'd like stand on the table and fall off and hit his head or something
