Unappreciated SAHM's ever gone on strike? MissHolly 2 kids; West Sacramento, California 980 posts

I am so fed up with doing everything around the house and getting no appreciation for what I do. Rather a, "What did you do all day?" from my husband. I keep my house super clean and tidy and am constantly picking up after my 3 year old and caring for me 6 month old.
I want to just go on strike (not for the kids) and just stop picking up after my husband. He is such a slob and doesn't even realize it because I pick up after him before it starts to build up into a disgusting mess (laundry, dishes, shit thrown everywhere). I know this sounds immature to do, but I really want him to understand how hard I work everyday even though I am a SAHM.

What do I do? Have you ever tried doing this??

I'm in the same boat but if I do go on "strike" I get called lazy and it must be nice to not work and do nothing..

I've never done it. Never had to, though. The first time I went out without the kids, and he stayed home, he figured out what I did all day.

it's tempting, but don't let his actions as a spouse and parent decide how you'll be as a spouse and parent. revenge isn't very good at solving problems.

Lol. I would totally just do it one day and when he comes home to a mess you can be like you see all of this, this is what I do all day f****r and tell him that he can clean it if he is going to continue to ask what you do all day!

I ignore DH when he tells me "I'm lazy" or "what have you done all day, nothing!" I go completely psycho on him and he shuts up

Never do a strike.. It never works. Just makes you look more "lazy" in his eyes.

Take a day just for you. Leave the kids and chores and house work to him on one of his days off.

Tell him why too. Tell him "you think I do absolutely nothing, you ask what I do all day, I've tried telling you and you don't believe me. See for yourself. Take care of the kids like I do, do chores, keep the house spotless and cook meals. See you tonight, have fun!"

I did this and it worked. I get more than enough appreciation now and he even helps out more, complains less and never asks "what have you done all day" instead I get "how was your day today?".

Try this. :)

I'm thinking of going on a "no more picking up soda bottles" strike. My SO is a Pepsi junkie and leaves the bottles all over the house! Starting to be my #1 biggest pet peeve!

Yep, totally did this. My husband will just leave stuff like clothes on the floor tons of cups by the bed he will leave food out on the coffee table and so on. One day I told him I thought it was rude that he just EXCEPTS me to pick up his dirty underwear. I don't except him to do that for me and how rude. So now if there are dirty clothes on the bedroom floor I kick them over to his side of the bed and make them inconvenience him not me. I also leave the dirty underwear that he leaves on the bathroom floor every morning and he currently has about 6 cups next to the bed on his night stand I also refuse to touch. I told him I am Jase's mom (our 3 month old) not his im his wife and partner together we take care of our kid I do NOT clean up after him. I work 1 maybe 2 days a week idc if you work or are a full time stay at home mom he's an adult and I just want to kick men (my husband included) for being lazy sometimes (not always) laziness gets on my very last nerve! Aaahhhh! :)
