This is just a curiosity that I've been thinking about that came about from another debate topic. The poll is for those who are strongly religious and/or strictly follow the moral code dictated by their chosen religion.

Just remember this is an imaginary scenario and the terms of this situation are absolute. There is probably no way this scenario would actually be the case in real life. But imagine it was and make your choice. None of the choices are ideal choices. Also feel free to rank the choices.

As a Christian (or other religion with a strict moral code), you become impregnated . Under no circumstance can you keep the child. You have four choices. You can adopt out the child to an atheist couple, a drug dealer couple, a gay couple, or have an abortion. Taking your religion into account, which is the best choice?

I'm curious to know what spawned this idea.

You should have been a little more specific. Like is the gay couple religious at all or what about the drug dealer? I would pick the gay couple if they had a belief of some kind. They would be the most stable choice and since I would never personally have an abortion I would want to give a couple that can't have a child biologically one. I would want my child to be raised with some sort of faith and that's why I wouldn't choose the atheist couple.

I wouldn't have chosen abortion but I had to comment because I thought the same thing when I saw gay couple. LOL My best friend is gay and proud and I'm just as proud of him. He'd make a great dad!

It was the debate about whether or not Christians would let a gay couple adopt their child. I was curious to know how strongly opposed religious people are to gay couples adopting... if it was better or worse than some other options in their opinion.

If you follow the strict moral code, wouldn't you find gay people as sinners?

I know it! I am so pro-gay rights I would march naked in the streets. I'm a Christian and I still love me some gay folk.

if I were some scared Christian kid who got knocked up(Is the scenario I made up in my mind) and COULDN'T keep my child I'd choose an atheist gay couple..I mean, the gay couple would win automatically but then again they could also be Christian and I wouldn't want them to corrupt my kid:wink:..lol..

I guess you should have asked for Christians who ARE strict about the bullshit "rules" of Christianity because I believe in God whole-heartedly and I have no issue with gay people. I fight for equal marital rights. I also have no issue with atheists and have had some of the best discussions with them. The only one of the options that would be dead last on my list would be a drug dealer. I am a CJ major and the lifestyle of drugs, weapons, and the mess that goes along with dealing is no choice I would want for my child. I would abort before that.

I wanted so bad to go to the gay rights rally here last summer but I never got around to it. I ordered DD a shirt that said "PRIDE" in blocks :) DH was going to order a shirt too.

<blockquote><b>Quoting Rd.:</b>" If you follow the strict moral code, wouldn't you find gay people as sinners?"</blockquote>

In my moral code no. Because we are all sinners and I feel being gay isn't as great of a "sin" as not having any faith. If they have chosen to be each other forever and can give my child a stable loving home and can also teach my child unconditional love? Then that is exactly what I want. I don't believe God makes mistakes. And although I do think there are some ppl out there who chose to be gay (i have a girl friend who isnt dexually attracted to women but dates them because she has serious man issues from her childhood.) I also believe there are those who were born that way.
