In Asian culture being overweight is by some people considered a sign of abundance and wealth. So yes there is every chance that baby was over fed as a symbol of status.

You're gonna tell me that baby was just fed breastmilk or formula and nothing else. If that really were the case I could say that it's probably not abuse but there's no way that's all that baby eats. He's obviously being overfed and I find it disgusting. They are setting him up for a life full of health problems.

I should dig up the pictures of my cousin, she looked like that as a baby. She thinned out some in childhood but always had fat cheeks and legs. She was taken to doctors and such and they said not to withhold food, just don't give her crap food. My parents didnt give her crap food, and once she was older and more mobile she lost weight.

Could they be overfeeding that child, sure. But I have seen plenty of babies that are fat little chunkers and that was just the way they were until toddlers or young adults. I watched one little girl that was seriously fat... like she had folds upon folds in her legs and in her private region. I was amazed a kid could have that much fat, and she only ate breast milk!!! We had to clean milk from the folds of her neck. Then once she hit about... oh, 10 months old she started to thin out. Now she's about 3 and is skinny as hell. The mother ate all organic and is CRAZY when it comes to nutrition, so it wasn't too fatty of breastmilk. She was just a little chunker!!!

So no, I dont automatically think a child is being overfed because I've seen first hand babies that are fat chunkers and yet the parent is feeding them correctly.
