Dont worry about it. Most insurances will issue a check to you and the bank the holds your mortgage so that they can monitor the repairs and make sure the money is being used correctly. Since they dont want you to not fix the house and then foreclose on a piece of crap. :) So he wont get a cent.

Haha no problem. I work at a bank so I see a lot of people come in with insurance checks thinking it pay day only to have us hold onto it.

Yeah, we were one of those people last time. Not that we wanted the money to go play, but to fix up the house. We had to borrow about 40k from my parents to do it. And then get reimbursed.

If they dont do it like that though a lot of people wont fix their homes and then the bank is saddled with a destroyed home.
