It was quite difficult to deal with. Knowing how hard it was on me to do this for a dog I had only met a few minutes prior, I couldn't imagine what the family was going through.

Mmmhm!

When I was 4 months pregnant with Charlee my 13 year old poodle died right in front of me. He hadn't been acting right the past week or so and I had made an appointment for that day at 2:45, he was sitting next to me and was eating and drinking without any issues. I was sitting on the computer and he jumped down to the front door and just...dropped to his side. Oh my god that was the worst experience I have ever had to endure. We think he had congestive heart failure but I was a freaking MESS. My mom had to leave work to come over and calm me down..and take Sammy to my grandparents to be buried. I hate it..sometimes I still have nightmares about the look on his face :?

How terrible. I have never witnessed anything like that before, I probably would have reacted the same. It's going to break my heart when my cats time comes up. He is such an amazing cat and so wonderful with the kids. Aaron thinks he is in love with me because of how much more lovable he is towards me than the rest of the family.

My dog is fantastic other than the fact that she'll get into the garbage if we leave the door open and she eats my underwear :evil::evil:

Oh my goodness they are beautiful!!!

I personally am more of a dog person than a cat but I couldn't pass Sylvester up. It's funny how I ended up getting him.

I was at Pet Smart in the process of buying a couple things for my aquarium before getting the fish. By then they knew me by first name.

Anyways, Aaron and I were at checkout, and the cashier says to me, "You know Sheree, we have a cat in the back that is up for adoption." Before I could say anything Aaron says, "Babe we don't have the money to pay the adoption fees for an animal right now." So the cashier responds, "You don't have to worry about it. Someone actually came in first thing this morning and sponsored the cat. Which means all the adoption fees are paid, and the only money you would have to worry about spending is what ever supplies you need for the cat."

So I asked Aaron if we can go back there and just look. The associate took us into the back room and let him out of the cage. He went right to Alyssa and got on his hind legs while using her chest for support. The associate then explained to us that the reason he is up for adoption is because his previous owners had to move and the place they moved into doesn't allow pets. How do you turn that down?

Anyways, for adopting, Petsmart gave us a crap ton of coupons. So after the cat food, litter, pooper scooper, and litter tray.. Using the coupons we spend a total of $15.00

Meet my kitty. He was estimated at 4 years old when we adopted him, so he is about 6 years old now.

This is my Sylvester.

He will not go outside. He is strictly indoor and has no desire to go outside.

And this is him pretty much daring Aaron to move him from Aaron's side of the bed..

Awe, thanks.

Sylvester only ever went outside once, and it was because my roommate at the time didn't close the front door all the way. It was mid summer in the desert, and I don't know how long he was outside for, but I was angry about him getting out. I heard him meowing to come in, and the poor thing was absolutely filthy covered in sand. Ever since that happened, the farthest he will go is stop at the door and just enjoy the air. He won't cross the threshold though.

How loud are your cats when it comes to meowing? The cat I had growing up (the one who adopted us). I swear, one meow would linger for about 10 seconds and holy cow was it loud! I could be in my bedroom with my door closed which was at one end of the house, and he could be in my parents room with the door closed (Which was at the opposite end of the house), and his meow was so loud you would swear he was maybe in the next room over.

Edgar has a very girlish meow so his is not very loud, though you would think he would be the loud one with how large he is.

Kit is VERY loud and angry sounding when she meows. It echos through the house lol

LOL, sounds like my old cat.. Haha. I want to get Sylvester a companion (He actually does really well with other cats), but I can't right now. I had to pull teeth to get our landlords to agree to allowing cats in the contract.

Kit and Edgar get along with each other perfectly UNLESS there is another cat in the house and then they despise each other. We lived with my mom for awhile and her cat (who is actually their mom) caused kit and Edgar to straight up HATE each other.

It sounds like they went from being sidekicks to looking to be more dominate with another cat around.

I have introduced Sylvester to other cats, and he was always great with them (whether they were male or female).

He is actually a very lazy cat for the most part, but he is playful when other cats around.

Even though he and Aaron like to give each other a hard time, Aaron loves him like crazy. I had to tell the owners of the house that he was a therapy cat just so they would accept him being here. With his actions, anyone would say he is one with no questions asked. He loves to snuggle with me in ways I have never seen cats snuggle before.

Every night at bed time (Once he gets kicked off Aaron's side of the bed) he will come up, and tuck his head between my neck and the pillow, and just lay there with me for about 30 minutes, or until it becomes uncomfortable for him.

Awe.. I love when animals act like that. :) It's nice to feel needed by not just your family, but your animals as well. Though I know sometimes it gets obnoxious it still makes me feel special! haha.
