This is what happens to me when I watch the Food Network.
They've been having tailgater specials for the past two weeks.
I turned it on today and almost changed my menu!

I would either go myself, or send my SO to go himself.

Then again I am not one to invite people over and then leave them at my house while me and my husband took off for about an hour.

We aren't either, but we have to pick my son up from crazy town. DH makes me go with him because he wants a witness to whatever crazy she will pull. I'm the backup camera man, lolz. Oh, the joy of custody battles with psychos.

So yeh, we have to leave. But they are all very close friends of ours and are expecting us to leave. I've actually had a couple of th watch my girls in the past when we have had to leave for pickups.

Completely understandable. Please forgive me if anything I said sounded accusatory. (I promise, not my intentions, sometimes my wording comes out completely wrong, and can be easily misinterpreted.)

ETA: I just reread my previous comment and saw how bad it sounded. I am so sorry if I came across as rude.

If they are close and trusted friends and family, why not leave your LO's at home? This way they can play with the other kids. They will be so busy having fun they probably wouldn't even notice you guys had left.

No! What you said was fine! I was more worried that I came off as some POS hostess abandoning acquaintances!

That thought never even crossed my mind to be honest. I think it would be WAYYYY different if you were inviting just random friends for a get together.. It's completely different when someone has their closest friends and family who are comfortable enough to know that they can help themselves to anything without having to be told to do so. That makes sense.... Right?

My DH and the guys are equally lame, trust me. If us ladies weren't making the meal they would probably just tear through bag after bag of pretzels and potato chips. But we have them over for dinner every once in awhile so they are always super stoked for me to make them a meal. The food is probably the main reason everyone decided to come to my place. Well, we do have a large den that's perfect for parties and nice tv.

I had an apartment once a long time ago. 800 sf. Not sure where that is in the grand scheme of apartment sizes, but I had some mean parties there. My next door neighbor and I were great friends too, so we would frequently hold a party on our floor, leaving our two doors open and having the party span both apartments. If you are close with your next door, this can easily solve size problems! But even before neighbor and I became buds, I managed fine in my apartment.
