Finding out you have lupus while pregnant? Brand!e Due June 2; Alabama, New York 48 posts

I found out about a week ago that in my blood work lupus was detected. I'm not sure what to expect at my first specialist appointment, they said it would just be a consultation so I thought just lots of questions and answers but after they called to confirm the appointment today they said that I need to make sure I drink 35oz and have a full bladder for my ultrasound. Which has left me more confused and unprepared. I feel very much alone as I can't find any answers to these questions which only scares me more. I did not know I had lupus before this pregnancy (this is my 5th pregnancy 4th living child) anyone who can help answer a few of my questions would be greatly appreciated!! The only things I know so far, my blood count is low my metabolism has already been effected and I have very very low iron. Thanks again!!

Are you sure it's lupus.

If they test for anticardiolipin antibodies on the blood test form it says lupus but its not actually lupus.

I have the antibodies and it is related to Hughes syndrome. It's been the cause if many miscarriages for me and pre e. however is easily managed with aspirin.

My dr said the lupus was detected, and because I'm so inexperienced idk how he tested it. He is sending me to a specialist that will I think test me and baby for what specific lupus I have

! I have that too... APS. I had 7 miscarriages before my doctors decided to run tests. They told me it was lupus at first but we discovered it was APS. Now I just take aspirin throughout my pregnancies to prevent clots.

Oops! Sorry I don't get on much.

I was diagnosed before my 4th pregnancy. My OB at the time had me take baby aspirin my entire pregnancy and I delivered her at 34 weeks. She had IUGR and my water broke prematurely. According to my OB the condition will almost always make me deliver early or have tiny babies (causes clots in the placenta). My last pregnancy I did the same thing (taking the aspirin) and my water broke at 35 weeks. Baby was born weighing 4lbs and 9oz.
I have never had pre e or hellp in my pregnancies. I have also not required anything besides the aspirin thankfully. Here I am with baby number 6 and hoping for at least 37 weeks of pregnancy and a successful vbac :) I'll parent tank you too!
