Quoting Madi's*Mama:" !! same here I have yet had an employer that accepted me being late because 'life happens'. Everyone ... [snip!] ... it. If I was scheduled to start at 5, my boss doesn't want me there at 5:10 because traffics bad..I need to leave earlier. "

My job totally understands that people are late and life does happen. I guess I just have a bad ass employer. I can not control a accident and my employer totally understands that.

Yeah it's nice that yours does but from what I've seen, most don't. It could be the field to, I've only worked retail so far so I have to either be there on time to open the store or be there to let someone else go home.

Oh yes retail and fast food are not nice about things like that. But usually when you work for a corporation or a big deal company they are more willing to work with you.

That's what I'm hoping for when I finish my degree :) I'm very grateful I can be a SAHM right now because I was not cut out for retail. Rude ass people!

Nope. That's the pregnancy test chick huh?
Oh i agree. If it is not worth suing. Then dont. Collect unemployment and go on with your marry way.

I worked retail when I was finishing high school. Women at that and I could not stand some of the rude nasty women we would get in store. Holiday time was the worst also.

Ok. I looked at your profile and saw that you have kids named 4444 and 333 so it was an easy mistake.

And the other point goes back to one of the first things I said, which is that if it's a position that doesn't require a huge amount of experience and education, i.e. if she's easy to replace, then she ought to pay it and move on.

Quoting A mother & wife:" Of course it is not easy. I just stated how I've dealt with that on first hand. When someone ... [snip!] ... sued my employer and I had to get the documentation ready for a depo. and such it took almost 4 years. Trust me I know. "

this went right over your head

What???

kick it back a level and try not to get so worked up. You said (look back) that 'she can easily sue' if she (being OP) was fired over this.

I was saying EASY is by far NOT the word to use. I wish we lived in a world where wrongful termination didnt happen and when it did it was EASILY proven but that is not the fact at all. It is very time consuming, very expensive and while in the process you can potentially miss out on a new job due to you being in a claim with your past employer.

SIMPLE AS THAT. I have no idea why you are getting so worked up and so nasty.

If OP pays the $85, pleases her boss and stays a valuable employee there she will only benefit from it.

If OP takes a stand, say 'no way Im not paying' her boss gets pissy, starts writing her up for bullshit reason like she was 3 minutes late (still and offence) or she forget to do this or that, OP loses her job, her and her child(ren) have no income, they are at the food bank asking for Christmas presents with a thousand other families who have no work due to this shit shit economy and she stressed out daily by trying to gather money and credentials to sue this b***h boss...........................YOU telling me she wouldnt have just been hell of a lot better off to just pay the $85 for HER mistake???

If by saying this: Wrong you are just mad that someone has actually gone through it and can tell you right from wrong.
you think im being nasty. You have another thing coming for you.

I am not getting worked up. But by your response I can see you are. Peace!

Quoting A mother & wife:" First off I am not in PA. Second. WRONG! I work in the legal field you are not as you say "fucked". ... [snip!] ... business is different. All I have to say to everyone is always keep everything. Track everything and keep files of everything. "

you have been through it on the law side...I have JUST gone through it on the personal side. I was at my place of employment for 4 years. 1.5 years before I was fired with NO reason given I knew the reason was because my son was diagnose with cancer and I was now a liability as they probably assumed I would need time off (never missed one day through his chemo) and that I his benefits would cost the company WAY too much. There was no reason to keep me, everyone is replaceable. I had raving yearly appraisals, no missed days, and a file full of commendations. I had all the evidence in my hand.....yet the settlement I took in order to keep my sons health out of the media (as the case would have gone public if I did not settle) is nothing compared to what I loss or the problems my family faced due to the termination. So I am sorry to say girl, but you are, as you like to say - WRONG.

Another employee at the same company was fired right after me, again no reason given. She was raped by her trainer and filed charges. As soon as that happened...out the door she went. She is the one who went to a private lawyer and I can not begin to tell you the damage it has caused her in life.

You've wrote for the last what, 2, 3 pages but now have no time lol.

When you read (as I know you will, we all love curiosity) you will see that I have been through it.

You're wrong, and thats okay.
