Starting to wonder.. Mary Rackam Due June 12 (boy); Norlina, North Carolina 22 posts

I'm 5' exact and used to weigh 98 lbs. Now I weigh 143 lbs and I"m 21 weeks pregnant. This has started to bring up some issues that have me asking questions. I hope you guys can help me, seeing as I'm a first time mother and don't know if I should be worried or not. So here goes.

1.) I drink at the least 17 glasses of water. Yet, I can't stay hydrated. Its to the point where even at the hospital I wasn't easy to keep hydrated with an I.V. Any clue why this could be?

2.) I have trouble breathing no matter where I am. Walking, sitting, laying, and have woke up gasping for air some nights. I'm not sure if this is normal and it scares me.

3.) I have dizzy spells almost daily. I can get up and walk from on side of the house to the other, and get extremely dizzy after being just fine. Is it normal?

4.) I faint if I'm standing from more than 30 minutes. My father-in-law had to catch me one time. Now, I'm scared to go anywhere.

What makes all this worse is my doctor says its all in my head.. But its not and its worrying me.

I don't know about the hydrating thing, but trouble breathing is common. The baby takes up space, so the bigger it gets, the less space your lungs have in order to expand. As for the dizzy spells and faint from standing, both could be from low blood sugar, or an iron deficiency. Just bring it up at your next prenatal appointment.

The excessive thirst and weight gain, and maybe the dizzy/fainting spells make me think diabetes.

The dizziness and fainting spells on their own would make me ask about anemia.

Trouble breathing is normal.

Honestly that sounds like it could be from GD. Also have you asked about your BP when you go in?

Could be an iron deficiency...I would get a 2nd opinion.

I'm supposed to come in on the 14th. I have asked to be switched to anew doctor and they have yet to do it.

The breathing thing is really common, like others have said.

As for the dizzy spells I had that and it turns out I'm anemic. Mine's not bad enough to where I have to take anything extra for it, I was just advised to eat a bowl of Smart Start cereal per day and also dark green vegetables.

Good luck :)

Then light a fire under their asses before they end up telling you that your too far along to switch.

I was told light headedness and dizziness is normal, had it in my first pregnancy. The trouble breathing normal.Your doctor should be able to get reports from your hospital from the dehydration to prove your not making it up about that. But I would definintely recommend getting a new doctor. You should find a doctor you can build a great, trusting doctor/patient relationship,I love my doctor and I wouldn't want a doctor who's doubting my word and atleast take it into consideration to make sure me and my baby is okay. You may have to call a few diff OB's and see if they are taking patients and take your insurance,I wouldn't wait for them to find you a new doctor.

Turns out that my son has compressed my lungs due to lack of room cause I lost a lot of weight. That is what was going on this entire time and I was lucky to catch it in time. They said if I hadn't come in when I had, that due to weight loss, I could have went into labor and had my son to early for him to survive. Thanks to a new doctor.
